The comment thread to this on the Tweedles' blog is highly entertaining. Each and every time someone says they like the general idea but not the actual specs of the project, Kozlowski begs them to give them money anyway:

You're right, and I have no more faith in his personal promise than you do.
That comment was strictly tongue-in-cheek.

But if they don't promise to fulfill refunds their reputations and site will go down the pan...hopefully they will gain some publicity on some major tech sites and even if they don't manage to pull through with this project maybe others will take notice.

We're all desperate for a decent 8"+ ereader....someone make it happen!

If you're desperate for one, why don't you buy one? The Onyx i86 seems to be well regarded.

My perfect ereader is the $29 Kindle 7 I bought last Christmas. If it's Kindle and cheap, it's perfect.

So how much of their own capital have they invested in this project? Or are they just using everybody else's money for this little project? I would be much more confident if they had said "we've already invested $20,000 of our own money to get things rolling.

I just saw their PRWeb press release. "Good e-Reader has just formally launched the first ever crowd sourced campaign for an e-reader"? Wasn't Earl a crowdfunding campaign? Also Blitab?

Tweedle Dumb and Tweedle Dumber are so full of **it. Take this sentence alone from that article:

Quote:
Our device will let you easily use your favorite e-reading app such as Moon + Reader, Kindle, Kobo, Nook and thousands of others.
Yeah, right. There are thousands of reading apps on the market, aren't there. They have become so used to talking and writing crap on their website that they don't even realize anymore when it turns into utter nonsense.

They probably haven't realised that you can write more or less whatever you like on a blog, but when you're making marketing claims there are actual laws that apply to their truthfulness.

Not much of an announcement.

Quote:
Every day someone emails Good e-Reader imploring us to launch a crowd funded campaign to design and manufacture the perfect e-reader.
Better find that 'someone' and tell them to stop emailing them lol

Interestingly
Quote:
Peter Carotenuto of Good e-Reader said "People often have to settle for an e-reader that gets the job done, instead of something they truly want to buy.
Is that the ultimate purchase (at the right price point of course), something that gets the job done? I know myself I only want to buy something that will do what I need it to do. I wouldn't call that settling.

In fairness to them, there are certainly thousands of apps that can be run on an eInk Android device.

That's true. Did I misunderstand the sentence? For me "thousands of others" clearly referred back to "e-reading app", and I still think the sentence invites my reading. This might not have been Kozlowski's intention, though. Since bad English and hyperbole both abound in his writing, it may indeed have been the former, not the latter, in this case.

And NAEB. Back in 2007, before crowd-funding really took off.
