Serial by Jack Kilborn and Blake Crouch

Quote:
Product Description:

Remember the twin golden rules of hitchhiking?
# 1: Don't go hitchhiking, because the driver who picks you up could be certifiably crazy.
# 2: Don't pick up hitchhikers, because the traveler you pick up could be raving nutcase.
So what if, on some dark, isolated road, Crazy #1 offered a ride to Nutcase #2?

When two of the most twisted minds in the world of horror fiction face off, the result is SERIAL, a terrifying tale of hitchhiking gone terribly wrong. Like a deeply twisted version of an "After School Special," SERIAL is the single most persuasive public service announcement on the hazards of free car rides. Beyond a thrilling piece of horrifying suspense, SERIAL is also a groundbreaking experiment in literary collaboration. Kilborn wrote the first part. Crouch wrote the second. And they wrote the third together over email in 100-word exchanges, not aware of each other's opening section. All bets were off, and may the best psycho win.

Jesus the Evangelist by Richard D Phillips

Quote:
Product Description:
Rev. Richard D. Phillips digs into the early chapters of the Gospel of John to discover principles for Christian outreach that were modeled by witnesses for Jesus and by Jesus Himself. Phillips unfolds biblical principles for evangelism by examining the ministry of John the Baptist and the calling of the first of Jesus disciples. Then, through a brief study of the Lord's encounter with the Pharisee Nicodemus, he presents us with a theology of the gospel. Finally, he focuses on Jesus stirring encounter with the Samaritan woman to show exactly how Christ shared the good news. Phillips clear and concise handling of these key stories will both motivate and instruct believers in their witness on behalf of Christ.

Henry Ford's Way by New Word City

Quote:
Product Description
Henry Ford's vision of a car for Everyman and a living wage for his employees created the middle class and forever changed America. But the deeply flawed genius got lost in his own new world. Among the lessons you can learn from his life: Make yourself stand out. If you find a diamond, don't throw it away. Don't neglect opportunities no matter how remote. Understand your weaknesses. When you do recognize your mistakes, don't punish the world for them.
Henry Ford was far from the only inventor chasing the horseless carriage at the turn of the century, and it took him three decades after his encounter with the road roller in 1876 to roll out the Model T in 1908. Even then, he had to outmaneuver his financial backers to pursue his vision of building a car for everyone. Sooner or later, of course, someone else might well have done it. But the world is what it is because of Ford's patient, dogged determination. If you have a big idea, don't give up on it.

Quote:
Product Description

Bonus content "Sports Fans vs. Traditional Economics: Why Many Economists Think the Fans are on to Something " included in this digital edition.
Don’t they want to win? Every sports fan asks that question. And no wonder! Teams have an immense amount of detailed, quantifiable information to draw upon. They have powerful incentives for making good decisions. Everyone sees the results of their choices, and the consequences for failure are severe. And yet, they keep making the same mistakes over and over again...mistakes you’d think they’d learn how to avoid!
Now, two leading sports economists reveal those mistakes in basketball, baseball, football, and hockey–and explain why sports decision-makers never seem to learn their lessons. You’ll learn which statistics are linked to wins and which aren’t…and which statistics can predict the future and which can’t (information that just might help you dominate your next fantasy league!).
The next quantum leap beyond Moneyball, this book offers powerful new insights into all human decision-making. Because if multimillion dollar sports teams are getting it wrong this badly, how do you know you’re not?

FYI, there's a new game app for the Kindle - Next Puzzle Game (A Matching Game for Kindle) by Mobigloo ($2.99)

Quote:
Product Description:

NEXT is a matching puzzle game for Kindle.

The objective of the game is to clear all the pieces off the game board. Game pieces disappear when they are matched with, and touch, other game pieces with the same symbol. Your job is to move the game pieces around the game board to make this happen. Clearing the board allows you to move the next level.

The challenge is that if you don't plan ahead, you might not be able get the pieces to the right location because they are blocked by other game pieces. Because sometimes there are an odd number of a certain types of game pieces, if you match them too soon, you risk leaving stray game pieces behind and then you won't be able to finish the level.

NEXT includes 128 levels of varying difficulty and is easy to learn, but hard to master -- give it a try, and you'll see what we mean!

Product Description:

When death shatters the serenity of the exclusive moneyed enclave of Tuxedo Park, New York, Eliza Blake, cohost of the country's premier morning television show KEY to America, is on the scene. While attending a lavish gala at her friends' newly renovated estate, Pentimento, Eliza's host is found dead—a grotesque suicide that is the first act in a macabre and intricately conceived plan to expose the sins of the past involving some of the town's most revered citizens.

Determined to find out the truth, Eliza and her KEY News colleagues—producer Annabelle Murphy, cameraman B.J. D'Elia, and psychiatrist Margo Gonzalez—discover that Pentimento holds the key. Nestled in the park's sprawling architectural masterpieces, picturesque gardeners' cottages, and lush, rolling landscape, the glorious mansion is actually a giant "puzzle house," filled with ingenious clues hidden in its fireplaces, fountains, and frescoes that lead them from one suspicious locale to another—and, one by one, to the victims of a fiendish killer.

As Pentimento gives up its secrets, it becomes clear that no amount of wealth or privilege will keep the residents of Tuxedo Park safe. But just when Eliza unearths one final surprise, she comes face-to-face with a murderer who believes that some puzzles should never be solved.

Product Description:

Zara collects phobias the way other high school girls collect lipsticks. Little wonder, since she’s had a pretty rough life. Her father left when she was a baby, and her stepfather just died. Her mother’s pretty much checked out – in fact, Mom’s sent her to live with her grandmother in cold and sleepy Maine to ”keep Zara safe.” Whatever that means. Zara doesn’t think she’s in danger; she thinks her mother just can’t deal. Zara’s wrong.

The man she sees everywhere – the tall creepy guy who points at her from the side of the road – yeh, he’s not a figment of her imagination. He’s a pixie. And not the cute, sweet kind with little wings. Maine’s got a whole assortment of unbelievable creatures, like pixies and were-people. And they seem to need something – something from Zara...

Money Girl's Smart Moves to Deal with Your Debt, by Laura D. Adams, is a free pre-order on Kindle.

There's no description yet (and she doesn't have anything on her web page, blog, podcast or twitter/facebook pages), so I'm going to go out on a limb and say that this one will be a short book (or a "Single") about like some of the business shorts we've seen from FT press, about like her other short, Money Girl's 10 Steps to a Debt-Free Life ($3.99). I'll also predict that it's a teaser for her upcoming title, Money Girl's Smart Moves to Grow Rich ($9.99), as it is due out mid-December.

The Lost Symbol by Dan Brown is now discounted to $3.99 at the US Kindle store.

Quote:
Synopsis:

In this stunning follow-up to the global phenomenon The Da Vinci Code, Dan Brown demonstrates once again why he is the world's most popular thriller writer. The Lost Symbol is a masterstroke of storytelling—a deadly race through a real-world labyrinth of codes, secrets, and unseen truths . . . all under the watchful eye of Brown's most terrifying villain to date. Set within the hidden chambers, tunnels, and temples of Washington, D.C., The Lost Symbol accelerates through a startling landscape toward an unthinkable finale.

As the story opens, Harvard symbologist Robert Langdon is summoned unexpectedly to deliver an evening lecture in the U.S. Capitol Building. Within minutes of his arrival, however, the night takes a bizarre turn. A disturbing object —artfully encoded with five symbols—is discovered in the Capitol Building. Langdon recognizes the object as an ancient invitation . . . one meant to usher its recipient into a long-lost world of esoteric wisdom.

When Langdon's beloved mentor, Peter Solomon—a prominent Mason and philanthropist —is brutally kidnapped, Langdon realizes his only hope of saving Peter is to accept this mystical invitation and follow wherever it leads him. Langdon is instantly plunged into a clandestine world of Masonic secrets, hidden history, and never-before-seen locations—all of which seem to be dragging him toward a single, inconceivable truth.

Meanwhile, Joan is living at home with Mom and looking after her aging grandmother. Not exactly a recipe for excitement. That is, until a hunky young doctor moves in next door. Suddenly Joan has a goal--to get a date. But it won't be easy. Pretty Tori flirts relentlessly with him and Joan is sure that she can't compete. But with a little help from God, Allie, and an enormous mutt with bad manners, maybe Joan can find her way out of this rut. Book 1 of the Sister-to-Sister series, Stuck in the Middle combines budding romance, spiritual searching, and a healthy dose of sibling rivalry.
