In addition to the ones Issybird has mentioned: I like Cassandra Campbell, Julia Whelan, Khristine Hvam, Hillary Huber, Amy Rubinate, and Katherine Kellgren.
Whelan and Hvam are especially good for young-sounding female voices, Huber and Rubinate for noir femme fatales. |

What genres do you like? I'm sure there are plenty of women readers out there.

I don't listen to a lot of audio, but I have listened to this one by Tamora Pierce (Fantasy) -- it happens to be on sale for $1.99 this week at Apple (I had the CDS, but I assume it's the same recording produced by Full Cast Audio):
https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/id999121797 edited to add The others in the series have also been marked down from 24.99 to 9.99: WOLF-SPEAKER, EMPEROR MAGE, and REALMS OF THE GODS. Last edited by BearMountainBooks; 03-11-2016 at 10:15 PM. |

I've got most of Pierce's books in audiobook. Kind of odd that they are being sold as apps rather than simply as audiobooks.

I think they are also pretty restrictive with audio so perhaps this was the cheapest and fastest way to do it? Just a guess. |

They actually have all the Tamora Pierce books in the audiobook store (for $15). It could be that they are experimenting with a way to expand their audience to people who are much more familiar with the app store than the audiobook store. Or they could be experimenting with a different price model.

Just noticed that an audiobook version of Barbara Pym's Excellent Women is now available in the U.S.! I can only hope that more of her titles will make it to audio on this side of the pond!

If anyone is looking for a nonfiction title, which happens to read like a piece of gripping fiction, consider Nothing to Envy by Barbara Demick, narrated by Karen White.

Lauren Ezzo is an excellent narrator and seems to do a variety of stuff. I've got a Christmas Horror novel she narrated.

Thanks for the recommendation. I had borrowed this book from the library as an ebook but then was too busy to read it before I had to return it. Maybe I'll try it as an audiobook instead.

For a sultry female voice, Kalinda Little is good. She narrates Shanna Lauffey's Time Shifters series.

I've begun a re-listen of Paul Theroux's classic travel narrative The Great Railway Bazaar, narrated by the late Frank Muller - highly recommended!

Juliet Stevenson does an outstanding job with Miss Benson's Beetle and Elizabeth McGovern is perfect for The Chaperone.
