September: Bought 11, got 1 freebie, read 14, TBR down 2 to 696
Back on track, but I still need to cut down on number bought. |

I have sunk my chances of meeting my main goal with a bundle purchase (once again) in September. I was a little behind anyway, but still striving, and now I think it's just out of the question. 16 new books is +32 on my target, and I've only read 45 so far this year, so another 40+ in the last quarter seems unlikely.
I feel I should adjust my target rather than just throwing the towel in. Maybe 1.5x my purchases, instead of 2x? Or count the bundle as 1 purchase instead of 16? I don't know. I'm still thinking about it. Certainly I'd count it as a defeat if I read less than 1x my purchases, which is now quite close. Also, I've read exactly 5 books every month, so far this year, and I'm not sure I want to break that trend. My brain is possibly broken. |

I met my goal but I skipped a lot of pages/chapters to get to it. So I will probably make a lower goal next year. Perhaps number of pages rather than number of books |

I'm at 48 out of a target 60 for the year, so if my math is holding up that's about 2ish ahead of schedule.
Have been reading a lot of shorter books Poonachi: Or the Story of a Black Goat by Perumal Murugan which I really enjoyed Also had a go at a few of the Booker Prize list, loved The House of Doors by Tan Twan Eng and I Survive You by Jonathan Escoffery |

I am so behind in logging and tracking - read a ridiculous amount for me during summer months, reading has slowed a lot past two months, now want to pick up the pace again as I enjoy reading with October and have been missing it. So of course my goal of updating monthly here is a complete fail for 2023

I finished a few days ago and didn't even realize it till today.
53 books and 12,358 pages as of October 19th. Travelling alone is very good for my page count. |

I am reading Fourth Wing. At first I thought it was a stupid book and did not understand all the hype around it. Now I am 70% in and I can't put it down. Yes, it's an easy read. I am accustomed to more advanced writing but that is ok. My mind was needing a break. My last book The Abominable by Dan Simmons was so "wordy" with too many characters and too much detail it was a brain overload. Fourth Wing is an easy read and I am ok with that.

I can't rest on my oars, especially in regard to the StoryGraph challenge, where I need to read two more books, but that said.... I'm in amazingly good shape. I could end the year hitting all my goals and it's been eons since I've done that. Knock wood, fingers crossed etc.

October: Bought 19, got 2 freebies, read 17, TBR up by four. And somewhere I've miscounted, because I now have 701 on my TBR. Must do better. |

36 of 50 book target thus far. I'm not going to make it, but I've loved the attempt.
