3. It seemed to be a rehash of a familiar plot device, a bee sting. Something a nurse would think of, right?

So the final tally is:
pdurrant - 2 Bilbo - 2 poohbear - 2 issybird - 2 red - 1 Fat Abe -1 It's between pdurrant, Bilbo, poohbear and issybird. A four-way tie! Whoever has a question ready, be my guest. |

To get this started again, here's a simple tie-break question (anyone is free to have a go):
"In bookmaking, how many times would a quarto sheet be folded?" |

Well, it sounds like it ought to be four (so almost certainly isn't!). So that's my guess.

Tricked, tricked, I tell you!
Hmm... Without looking them up (of course), definitions for the following: parsec AU light year Bonus points available giving a value in any unit of your choice, accurate to within 10%. |

light year = distance traveled at the speed of light (in vacuum) in one year.
AU = astronomical unit parsec = 2.6 light years? Making a big guess. |

half a point for giving the words that go to make up the acronym AU Your parsec value isn't within 10%. 1.5 points to Hamlet53 |

light year = ~186,000 mi/s x 60x60x24x365 = ~ 5.9 x 10^12 miles?
1 parsec = 2.1 light year? AU = mean distance between sun an earth? |

Right order of magnitude, but well outside 10% for the parsec. 1 point for the definition of AU. That's 3.5 points to Hamlet53 with only three points remaining. Over to you, Hamlet53! (An AU is approx. 93 million miles. A parsec is the distance at which a disk of one AU diameter subtends one second of arc, about 3.3 light years.) |

Alright here is one that I've been itching to put out there for weeks now. Ever since I read the article that these are from. I apologize that it is very US centered, but some are obscure enough that maybe who knows?
Name the only two vice presidents to resign from office. Bonus points for providing why each left office. Name the only two vice-presidents to join the Confederate cause on Secession. Combining both ages what two have made up the youngest president and vice president team? Two who have served as vice president have received the Nobel Peace Prize. Name both. In the last 40 years only one vice president has been elected president. Who? |

Spiro Agnew resigned I believe. Some kind of financial misdemeanours came to light I think.
