@mruser2022: Smells like PEBCAK . IIRC, we should log some stuff in the syslog if the startup script runs.
Which tells me it doesn't even run, so, check KUAL's logs (/tmp/kual.log, IIRC). |

What?! I work in IT 20 years and now I'm personally offended, it simply CANNOT be my fault
More seriously, I have near zero experience with Kindles so it is possible I did something wrong. Actually it looked to me like KOReader wasn't even actually launching for same reason. I only followed this rather simple guide I linked in my first post though, that's why I need this forum's expert help so thank you in advance! As for KUAL logs, how can I get them? I don't see a tmp directory anywhere on the device. Actually I don't see a KUAL directory anywhere - is that OK? When connected via USBNetwork it doesn't like like I can move around either: |

Why is the output of ls so strange? What is the radius...
Kindle's visible storage should be /mnt/us/ , so KUAL dir is just the extensions/KUAL, etc.. Temp dir is just /tmp , or /var/local/tmp/ (don't quite remember, I don't have Kindle anymore). |

Hmm, looks like fbink is not compatible with the old Kindle Touch. @NiLuJe, is this fixable?

@mruser2022: Is that the content of /tmp/KUAL.log?
@mergen3107: Unless he's running in diags or on FW 5.0, it should be supported just fine (since pretty much forever ^^). The initial SSH screenshot is fairly weird indeed. |

Maybe you should try higher FW, like 5.3.2 or 5.3.7?

Some of the hacks don’t work on 5.3.7 AFAIK, so tread carefully if you use them now

@NiLuJe in your post on Open Sesame! you say there is no save way to connect any kindle that is above FW >= 5.12.x!. I am with my PW5 (2021) on 5.14.1.1
Or is this old news and is there a new solution? A KUAL app that @mbrisco is talking about. I would also not mind losing the total Kindle interface, I only use KOReader now anyways. But I read non native books and would love the google translate to work |

Look for Kindle Touch (4th Generation), then the file on Kindle, safely unplug and go to Kindle Settings - Menu - Update your Kindle (IIRC) |

@sebastiaanslk: Err, connect what? I'm afraid I'm going to need some more context here .
