Remove duplicates?
I'm trying to cleanup my humungous library of almost 10,000 books. Duplicates were created when I moved Calibre from a Windows to iMac machine several years ago. It was more than I could deal with at the time but am now trying to fix my library. I have thousands of duplicates using binary and title/author matches. I removed duplicate formats using binary but still have the now empty books entry.
Is there a way to remove thousands of entries based on various criteria? Specifically, I'd like to be able to remove entries based on Empty or Original_epub formats, older date vs. newer date, etc. It's just way too many matches to do each duplicate group at a time! I have the updated plugin running on Calibre 6.29 (most recent version for my aging Mac). Thanks! |

Thank you both for your help! I now have a library of only 7.293 books! Sure showed how rusty I've become that I didn't even think of using regular expressions!

Just recently used Find Duplicates again after not using it for a couple years. (found 17 binary compare duplicates)
I noticed as I was finishing that there were various colored push pin symbols in the first column. But I had already deleted the Dups so could not check if there was a pattern in IDing the duplicates. Is there a specific reason for the different colors? |

Not as far as this plugin is concerned, the colors have no useful meaning. It is a feature of calibre called temporary markers, it originally never had any sort of UI visibility at all. Then Kovid turned it into a user accessible feature with its own menu options to use and those drawing pins to see which rows are “marked” rather than something that only plugins made use of.
