Unfortunately the WRT54G is rather outdated and buggy. It is however one of the routers that was specifically tested with the 1.9.17 release. The WRT54G sometimes takes too long to respond to DHCP lease requests which causes a timeout when the Touch tries to auto connect. This behavior is consistent with previous firmwares, though as one of the changes in this release we increased this timeout value to try to mitigate it.
Try configuring your router with WPA (instructions) to see if it makes an improvement. |

Thanks, MDK, switching to WPA fixed the problem!

3 problems for me with 1.9.17:
-Sometime double touch problem (but less than with 1.9.16). -More ghosting than with 1.9.14 (but less than with 1.9.16 who was terrific). -Texte in book are very near the top of the screen... and the margin option don't modify this (only left/right margin). :-/ |

That has happened to me on all firmwares I have tested. It just seems that some settings (margins, line spacing, justification) are locked in some epubs. In those cases, I have done epub to epub conversion using Calibre, with option to remove said settings completely.

Besides this is logically the reverse of that - the problem is NO margins, so if anything, built in margins in the epub should result in the Kobo showing some margins. It doesn't - it shows no margin space AT ALL. If I had margins, but could not change them, then that would make more sense, but I have NONE. |

I must admit, I'm not impressed.
I reported a simple (but very annoying) bug in one of these forum threads (because kobo doesn't have a proper bug tracker). It is still not fixed. Letters with accents or other diacritics are part of the word they're in. When I long press a word containing these characters, I want to select the whole word, not the first few letters until it bumps into an accented character. While we're on the subject, commas, full stops, etc. are not part of words. Don't select them along with the word they follow. (The dictionary seems to be ok at ignoring trailing punctuation when looking up words, but that's no reason not to do things properly from the start) How about a proper bugtracker? People report bugs, they get a response, they know you've seen the bug report and will work on fixing it. So, the bug I hoped to see fixed is still there, what did we get?

If you are in the UK and using BT for your broadband, are you sure you are selecting the correct network the home hub is split into 2 (possibly 3) different WiFi networks, one of these is your personal network and the other is a public WiFi connection which takes you to a web page to log in |

But honestly, I don't know why people are so bothered by this. 99% of the time I have a book open and never even see the home screen. Last edited by the.Mtn.Man; 03-20-2012 at 10:02 AM. |

Indeed. And if you use the shortlist to indicate the next books you want to read, or to store the reference books you use only once in a while, it's even quite useful.

Still having the menu related double tap problem where it takes two selections to activate my menu choice! Thankfully someone in an earlier post pointed out to tap around 'useless' areas of the screen for the second tap or I would be going bonkers. If I wasn't reading A Song of Ice and Fire which has fairly long and involved books and had to change books more frequently I would be more peeved about the double press menu bug.
Finally happy to report that my shortlist actually displays instead of junk advertising on Recommendations! And it does seem more responsive overall which I am happy about. |

I'm still seeing missed taps when turning pages. It does seem better, but it is still happening more often then I would like.
