Very very thanks for that, google logon is now solved with your steps! nothing to do with accounts.db .... But that pretty girl background by sleeping is not solved. How can i solve that? I have Downloaded this one but i can't install that on the Kobo touch: 01-30-2015 08:48 PM azw409 Hi All, I've done a version of MsgE6.apk that removes the pretty girls on suspend and shutdown. This version instead has a medieval manuscript instead. https://www.dropbox.com/s/p5v7apzhpk...MsgE6.apk?dl=0 |

Hi,
It is known that the amount o ram of kobo readers (at least the kobo glo) is insufficient for apps that require many resources. I have researched and found the app Simple Root Swap, that seems work in kobo Glo (only the newer version, i had tested an older one some time ago and it don't work). It seems (so far) that the message of warning (Hinweis) wont appear so frequently wen many apps are running at the same time. This warning was for lack of memory ? |

Do you mind posting a link to the root swap hack? That is awesome news. By the way, any of you playing with widgets, most are not as benign energy sippers as you would hope. Flipboard was a big culprit for me. Even when set to update daily.

Hi,
This is not a hack. It is an app that creates a swap file like that exists in a normal computer. The result is an "increase" of the device ram, with the downfall of performance if the apps running require, mostly, many write cycles. I would like to remind that is still possible to run this version of android from the external sd card on Kobo Glo. For that follow the step in section - Installing (?) Android on Kobo -, point 2., of the embryo Android on Kobo: "Tips and Apps" |

@anki,
I tried to quickly figure that out for you - but got nowhere :/ I am pretty sure you need to replace the MsgE6 file in /system/app (using Total Commander with root permissions). Despite my many efforts - it failed to overwrite? There are other ways to approach this - but since I am not bothered - I'll leave it for now **Edit the same problem that I encountered been reported before elsewhere: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...&postcount=330 that post/thread has a few mentions of the problem but with a possible solution btw - friendly advice....since you seem new the link in your last post was dead I had to search through the posts to find which one you meant (post #80). you can hotlink to any post via the number on the post like so: click me Last edited by cifa; 05-09-2015 at 04:02 AM. |

Hi,
I am having the same problem to replace the MsgE6.apk in /system/app folder. I tried: total commander, ES file explorer root permision], terminal on Kobo, ADB shell. All of these fail with the shell/terminal error indicating the the system/app is read-only. Even as sudo these fail! I then removed the SD card and booted the partition in Unbuntu. I replaced the MsgE6.apk and renamed MsgE6.odex to MsgE6.odex.bak. The girls are gone but the device doesnt go into sleep mode anymore. I tried from shell: mount -o rw,remount /system but i only the get the mount help output in return. Any help in getting write access to the /system folder would be appreciated. |

great effort but disappointing to read that the ES file explorer solution doesn't work.
i'll be honest - this didn't interest me but now I am intrigued. why did you rename the MsgE6.odex? I assumed it was just going to be a quick replacement of the MsgE6.apk file see if this helps?: [Shortened URL - MODERATOR] Last edited by Dr. Drib; 02-11-2016 at 08:54 PM. |

I have just solved that with this tutorial. But who can make a new Msge6 file with a normal white lock screen? Use ES File Explorer.. Select menu-> Switch on Root Explorer under Tools. Again click on Root Explorer. A pop up window will appear. Select Mount R/W -> Select RW option from the new popup for '/' and 'system'. Now onto your operation. You will now be able to move the files without failure. |

Did anybody with android on Kobo Glo already test the AlReader-version(s) modified to make full-refresh on tolino_shine? Since the android-sources are the same, I think it should work properly.
BTW, I have removed (from the apks published on the above link to German forum) some unnecessary functions & graphics added mostly for Onyx-devices, so one may also test one of these 1. AlReader ver.1.22 ~870KB 2. AlReader ver.1.55 ~1.8MB Due to changed program names, both may be installed simultaneously and run parallel to each other without conflicts. ------------------------ UPDATE ------------------------ The question has already been answered in Russian forum, here (by stasys) -- at least with Marek's images v1, the full-refresh in the above version of AlReader v.1.55 does work properly. Not working on Glo HD, won't boot. Hope the best for next update. Btw, what version of android is the image?
@Biofa GPS is not just about software, it is hardware primarily. And I don't think Kobo or any e-ink reader has GPS receiver inside. Better use tablet. |
