It might be helpful if those who got bad Voyages could post where they shipped from - city, state - and shipping carrier. Could be a combination of warehouse and carrier treatment or one or the other. JMO Thanks. |

I will be getting a replacement in a few days. I am only trying once. If the second one looks the same, I am getting a refund and I'll keep using my PW2. Fingers crossed.

Got mine in the mail today, it is perfect... I had a PW1 that had some hue shifting across the screen, but not enough to have made me return it. I replaced that with a PW2. The PW2 is noticeably better but the light color I didn't like as much as the PW1. The Voyage is the best of both, it has the even lighting of the PW2 with a color somewhere between the PW1 and PW2.
LOVE the smaller size and how thin it is with the Origami cover. I was already used to this type of cover as I have a 7" HDX. Once people get used to the vertical hinge I think you will like it. I prop my devices up on stands regularly and the Origami cover removes the need for a stand. The HDX stands hold the tablet perfectly in landscape mode for watching movies but are crooked in portrait for reading. By using a vertical hinge the voyage is held perfectly in portrait orientation for reading. The size can't be emphasized enough.. the PW2 in it's cover will fit in the rear pocket of some of my jeans but in tight. The voyage probably fits in all of them, it's a lot smaller, or the difference seems bigger than it actually is. Much nicer for throwing in a jacket pocket too. Still getting used to the page buttons. Performance is notably better than the PW2 but not a huge deal. Last edited by beninma; 10-21-2014 at 10:23 PM. |

I am wondering if the screen might improve with use? Mine is not scheduled to arrive for a couple of weeks. Maybe the next batch will be better?

It sounds like they have lights with a range of color temperature. Most of the time, the difference between multiple lights/light strips in one device (I've no idea how many leds there are per device) would be unnoticeable to most folks, but every now and then, lights at extreme ends of the range end up in a single device and the contrast gets noticed. Definitely not what you expect in a premium product. Probably not too hard to prevent with an extra step before assembly, but if it's rare enough, it might be dramatically cheaper to just let your users return the ones that really stand out.
I'd prefer to get one that leaned yellowish (evenly, of course). As a heavy night reader, that'd create less strain for me. Is that a common preference? |

I'd prefer pure white, but if I had to pick between a little blue and a little cream, I'd pick cream. One of my PW2s looked like pee, so too much yellow is horrible for me.

Strange that Amazon won't allow any reviews for it yet, don't you guys think?

So my first impressions--
Light sensor: a bit dodgy. It was working perfect for me, and then stopped working. Page turns: even at low pressure, turning a page with that is such a slow event that I prefer tapping the screen. Really these things are stupid, I would have liked actual buttons. Lighting: seems fine to me, high settings wash out the black as expected. Contrast: Great! Best I've ever seen. Blacker blacks and whiter background than my PW2. Glare: the same as my older ereaders, the glass doesn't enhance the glare any. Resolution: Beautiful, sharp fonts. On my preferred font setting this device looks noticeably better than the Kindle basic. But the difference between the Voyage and the PW is quite subtle. Flush bezel: is great for me, the screen looks amazing with that flush bezel and glossy finish. Power button: I HATE IT!!!!! What!?! Why did you put it on the back!? I could have put one of several covers on. I can't. It is so awkward and stupid. Put it at the bottom like always, not the back! Good grief! What if I want to hold it by the back? What then!?? Stupid... grr... |
