Two humans, one ereader, one pbook and five cats...you do the maths.
The only chance DH and I get to read undisturbed is when we (somehow) manage to shut the cats out of the room we're in. |

Sometimes they start playing and I have to stop what I'm doing to watch (or supervise!).

When I read sitting in the garden, my two dogs do interfere with my reading: the male one places his chin on my lap and looks up at me with those large watery eyes (I'm sure that you all know them well. Yeah, THOSE eyes! Those damn sweet, sad, awwww-inspiring eyes!); the female instead slips her head under my elbow, until my hand leaves the reader, and just proceeds to bob her head up and down so that she can "pat" herself. I just have to let my hand on her head, she does all the movements needed.

The late pit bull we had was best friends with Christian. They got along much better than Christian does with Norton.

The only reading interference I get from my budgies is when I'm listening to audiobooks. There are some readers/narrators that they feel the need to chatter happily at, and some they scold. They enthusiastically join in any background or incidental music. Sometimes I crank the volume, sometimes I put on headphones, and sometimes I give up, close the bedroom door, and listen in the living room.

You'd think that parrots living with a human with echolalic tendencies and lots of talking gadgets would learn at least one or two commonly used English words/phrases, but the only foreign language (i.e. not Budgie) that I've ever heard them speak is Piggy's occasional exclamations in Cockatiel.

That's why cats and dogs are the most favourite pets. Most other animals are merely exhibits held in prison.

Those two critters are out of their cages more then they are in them. The 9 year old girl tends for the rabbit and the boy's got the turtle.
