I always need to look at the actual, originally exported CSV itself, not a picture. Could you please attach it to your post? You may have to rename it from .csv to .csv.txt for mobileread.com to allow it to be uploaded.

Thanks.

It looks like you used Single Step Mode then did not execute the other buttons. Change the Mode to Auto-Step, and try it again. It will do everything itself down thru Update Author. Lower than that, you must click the buttons yourself.

The CSV should be downloadable via the previous dropbox link but I've attached it here. Also see my [edited] post above for the error text.
Attached Files
File Type: txt Untitled2.csv.txt (11.4 KB, 272 views)

I can get the Zotero metadata to populate Calibre perfectly using both Single and Auto-Step however the actual files don't get imported into Calibre despite the ZFileAttachment tag being correct. The entries don't get created at all unless I enable the empty book import option even though I believe ZMI correctly "sees" the ZFileAttachment field from the CSV.

@ZoteroCalbrNote:

Version 1.0.35 was just uploaded. It will automatically become available in Calibre at :32 after the hour, but it can be manually downloaded from the OP now, and then manually installed via Preferences > Plugins > Add from File.

I tested your CSV with the new version, and it worked fine except for the fact that the paths of the file attachments do not exist on my PC.

Thank you so much! I'll report back when I get a chance to test it later today.

I updated the plugin and although I don't get any errors the file attachments still don't import to the corresponding entry created by ZMI in Calibre. I used both the step-wise and auto-import features in ZMI and both create the same result: either nothing is imported at all or empty .txt files are imported to entries with the correct metadata with that option checked. It seems like it should work since the Zfileattachment column in Calibre is correctly populated to the file on my computer (if I copy and paste the path into cmd the pdf opens). FWIW the comparison tool also states nothing is missing. Any thoughts?

  • Try creating a new test collection and export it. Does that test work?
  • Windows 7 or 10? If 7, is UAC turned off? See the OP about that.
  • Are you an Administrator? If not, run Calibre as an Administrator and test that.
  • Restart Calibre in debug mode by clicking that option under the Preferences button. After testing, exit from Calibre. Wait a few seconds and a text file debug log will appear. Zip and upload that so I can look at it.
  • Are you using the default CSV file format, or have you defined user defined fields?
  • Add a brand new file attachment using Firefox Zotero and then export that. Does that work?

Your very first post shows that you are using Windws 8 PE. See the above article.

Windows Preinstallation Environment (Windows PE) 2.0 is a minimal Win32 operating system with limited services, built on the Windows Vista kernel. It is used to prepare a computer for Windows installation, to copy disk images from a network file server, and to initiate Windows Setup.

Windows PE is not designed to be the primary operating system on a computer, but is instead used as a standalone preinstallation environment and as an integral component of other setup and recovery technologies, such as Setup for Windows Vista, Windows Deployment Services (Windows DS), the Systems Management Server (SMS) Operating System (OS) Deployment Feature Pack, and the Windows Recovery Environment (Windows RE).

Dalton; I'd suggest you look at the logs other people have posted over the years. The presence of WindowsPE in the log does NOT mean the user is running WindowsPE.

Research indicated that seeing WindowsPE means that the OS came preinstalled on the pc from the maker. Google knows everything.

@zoterocalibrnote:

Apparently win8 has UAC like win7. The comments in the OP about UAC apply to you too.

Here's how to turn User Account Control (UAC) on or off in Windows 8:

Press Windows Key+X on your keyboard to display the Tools Menu and select Control Panel. ...
Type UAC in the search field in the upper right corner of the window.
Click Change User Account Control settings in the search results.
