Because of the widespread awareness of the story of the evil Transylvanian count and the success of numerous film adaptations that have been created over the years, the modern audience hasn't had a chance to truly appreciate the unknowing dread that readers would have felt when reading Bram Stoker's original 1897 manuscript. Audible's Daily Deal today is Heather Gudenkauf's These Things Hidden, narrated by Ali Ahn, Angela Lin, and Angela Goethals, for $3.95. If you like domestic suspense-type stories, this one is pretty good. I've listened to all of Heather Gudenkauf's novels and like them. They can feel a bit choppy and confusing at the start, as she alternates several first-person accounts of different characters, but once you get used to her style, it works.

Linwood Barclay's No Time for Goodbye is on the list--that's a good one. I'm thinking of maybe picking up W.P. Kinsella's Shoeless Joe, which I absolutely loved when I read it on paper, and Minette Walter's The Ice House, which has been on my radar.

If you see something you really like, you could always return the title you bought to get the BOGO. I did something similar the last time they gave out a $10 credit. There was a title I wanted on Whispersync but they had taken it off. I spent my credit and the next day they turned Whispersync back on the title I had been watching. They were happy to exchange (same $).

Last time they offered it they had Michael J. Sullivan's "The Rose and the Thorn" as an option. This was the last book I needed to complete this series, so I signed up for the Kindle Unlimited offer. The other book was just extra, but it did stretch the free credit a little farther, and I got a book I would eventually get anyway.

BTW, I didn't post it because I didn't see the point. Over on Fandango, you can get a free download code for "Dracula" from Audible if you buy a ticket to "Dracula Unlimited." Interesting incentive, but the Wispersync freebie makes it kinda useless. (You can't see the version being offered, but I am assuming it is the same one, since this is Audible's go-to version most of the time).

ETA: nope...my mother had asked for wicked on audio.I didn't know there were 4 only thought there were 2. Was hoping to get b1g1 on anything. Oh well, Will just wait for the next promo for credits that works for me

I used the two credits I got from the Twit promo to finish up my Dune collection (18 books so far). It took me three years to collect them. Now I have no need for any more credits until a new Dune book is published. In the mean time, cash credits will come in handy for Whispersync deals.
