Just started The Company by K.J. Parker. I've read his Scavenger Trilogy and Engineer Trilogy. Although in the end I really liked them and was glad I read them, I know I struggled a lot with his books. Mostly because of all the technical descriptions he puts in his books. But I have high hopes for this one

I just finished "The Eye of the Idol" by Paul Dayton. I gave it 2.5 stars.

A mixture, as usual. Some stories I liked a lot. I especially liked the Christmas at Hostage Canyon short story and the Home Sweet Bi'ome Novelet. I wasn't fond of the last story at all.

I decided I really ought to read any books I buy quite quickly, so my next one is Written in Time by Jerry and Sharon Ahern. It sounds like an interesting time-travel story, and is one of the ones in the November 2011 webscription bundle.

I'll get back to Watt-Evan's Lords of Dûs series next.

Finished Doomsday Book by Connie Willis. If accurate, it gave a quick view of the hard life experienced in the 14th century. Did not care how England was portrayed in mid 21st century.

Now reading Childhood's End by Arthur C Clarke.

I didn't want to give it away but ... yeah.

No cell phones, no ans machines, all these antivirals and t-cell enhancements but ppl still died of the flu.

I read one of those old sci-fi books not long ago. In it, it was 1974 I think and there was a manned station on the moon, and you could fly from Washington DC to Mexico City by rocket in 30 minutes, but you still needed an operator to place a call.

Edit: By the way, people do still die from the flu...

I just finished Shantaram by Gregory David Roberts. One of the best books I've read in a long time. It took him 13 years to finish the book. A true masterpiece with a mind boggling life story.
