Nick,
We're going to upgrade our forums this week, and it'll include updated links. |

We are switching the Dev Hub to a faster server. Expected downtime: around 1 hour.

Done. It took less time to migrate, but some more to switch the IP.

Hi,
I have just added the iLiad registry utilities to the dev hub and the subversion repository. I ran into a problem, however, when I tried to tag the 0.1 release of the utilities. The command: Code:
svn copy https://dev.mobileread.com/svn/regutils/trunk https://dev.mobileread.com/svn/regutils/tags/release-0.1 -m "The 0.1 release" Code:
svn: COPY of tags/release-0.1: Could not read response body: connection was closed by server (https://dev.mobileread.com) Code:
Adding tags/release-0.1 svn: Commit failed (details follow): svn: COPY of release-0.1: Could not read response body: connection was closed by server (https://dev.mobileread.com) |

Martijn, thanks for the report. I haven't encountered this problem before, but I will look into it tomorrow morning. It appears only when you try to copy to tag, right?

OK, I am surprised this haven't come up earlier. I am also not aware of any major software upgrades that could have influenced this behavior.
Anyways, I think I pinpointed it down to our proxy server which didn't properly forward all svn requests to the underlying Apache server. Until we solved the problem, could you try accessing the Apache server directly via: https://dev.mobileread.com:8080/svn/[yourproject] (so same url as before, but on different port) Best, Alex |

Thanks, that solved it.
BTW: with regard to your original question; copying to the branch directory also didn't work. So it was a weird error, the initial commit worked fine, I could also do a small commit after updating a file, but somehow the copy command didn't work. Last edited by Martijn; 05-17-2008 at 05:38 AM. |

Glad to hear it works! I was able to pinpoint the problem (in case you are interested )...
In this particular scenario, the web server that your SVN client sees is accessible via https. But the web server is in fact a reverse proxy, that is funneling the request back to an Apache server that is not running SSL (since it's running local only). The COPY/MOVE commands from the SVN client are supplying a Destination header of https://.../. Our proxy needs to modify this header (to http://.../), otherwise Apache will barfs with a 502 Bad Gateway error. Working on a fix... |

svn checkout / commit does not work anymore?
I cannot checkout from or commit to svn in the Development Hub anymore. :-( I think it was still working Wednesday.
Code:
svn co https://dev.mobileread.com/svn/luailiad/trunk luailiad Code:
svn: Server sent unexpected return value (503 Service Not Available) in response to PROPFIND request for '/svn/luailiad/trunk' What is strange, is that commands like svn diff still work?!?! BTW: Thanks for Mobileread! |

hansel, thanks for the report! The problem was a memory exhaustion issue on the server running the svn and trac. Trac running on python is the culprit.
I restarted the services and it should work fine again. Does anyone know of a good non-Python-based replacement for trac? |
