There is now an InkBox OS emulator LiveDVD!
You can find the ISO here: http://23.163.0.39/bundles/inkbox/emulator/
Hopefully, it will be updated frequently.
It is based on Debian and it starts up automatically upon X11 login. User is "user" and password is "user".
Speed may vary depending on your hardware. I'd recommend at least 4GB of RAM and a 4-core CPU.
Once you reach the login prompt in the emulator, open a new tab and enter:

while true; do vncviewer 127.0.0.1:5901; sleep 1; done

and it should come up eventually™.

Just a heads up to your excellent job and a couple quick questions.

1 - There currently is no way to see the table of contents of a book?

2 - The reading position is not saved as well? Every time I pen a book it goes back to page 1 and I have to take not of the page I last stoped.

Keep up the good work, this actually just brought my kobo glo back to life.

InkBox will support in 1.9 release the Kobo Nia, Glo HD and Aura SE. It is usually not limited by the hardware, but only by the lack of devices/testers as you said.

Play Chess under the KoBox X11 subsystem in InkBox OS. Uses Fruit-2.1 engine.
Available here: http://23.163.0.39/bundles/kobox/extensions/
Connect USB cable, go in KoBox settings -> Export extensions storage then drag-and-drop xboard.isa and xboard.isa.dgst files in the drive from your computer.
You can launch it by going in KoBox apps -> Xboard.
If there is no board at launch, go to File -> New Game.

You can launch it by going in KoBox apps -> Puzzles. Then, a dialog will pop up and ask you the puzzle you want to do. If you want to return to the main GUI, quit the puzzle and click the "Cancel" button of the dialog.

Just discovered this today, that will definitely reignite my use of the Glo HD!

One feature I use often from the stock firmware is Pocket, is there some kind of integration there as well?
