My primary goal is to read 3,000 pages per month using Goodreads estimates, and I've met that for January. Issybird mentioned how we tend to get reading on the new, shiny novels. I have unread novels/magazines from 2010-2020 on a spreadsheet, so picked out something from every year and read those the first half of January before starting a 4 book series (Heritage of Shannara is all one story), so I'll get those other 2 years in February. Goodreads lists 21 books read this month, but 5 are under 100 pages.
My TBR, on the other hand, is still going upward despite the number of books read this month. That recent Members sale at Audible is partly to blame. Even got Name of the Wind since so many recommended it. I did resist a number of others though. My membership ends in March and I won't pick it up again until November, hopefully, that will keep the acquisitions down. Last edited by Tarana; 01-31-2020 at 08:36 PM. Reason: Fixed number error |

Set my goal to 100 as usual, noticed the number of books has a direct relation to how good i feel / my health is, with the number of books read. A good year shows around a 100, last year i topped 350.
And no, it's not a positive number, the worse things are the more i flee into books ;-) |

Read 4 books for January so far. 3 of them have been science fiction. Next will be another Sci fi. China Pandemic. by A.R. Shaw. Anyway I had this one on my list for a while and wanted to read it, now might be a good time.

I've read some seriously horrible romance books I had high hopes for, but they turned out to be plotless porn in disguise
I'm reading an old fashioned Harlequin that's feisty and fun to clean the palate. Finished The Blackwater Chronicles audiobooks by Michael McDowell, that series was excellent. It will be missed. Now on to another Perry Mason audio, this time the case of the counterfeit eye. I need to learn to keep focusing with some of the side audio though. I had a smash up January in terms of reading. My wife and I have almost completely cut out TV save for a bit at dinner and watching our regular sports. It wasn't a conscious decision, it just sort of happened. And my super increased reading time has benefited. I don't think I'll finish anything else today or tomorrow, so I am posting a day early.

I had an okay month. Ten books and almost 3000 pages. Which is well below my January average, but the most I've read since September, so I'm happy.
Most of my reading was done during my annual Reading Retreat and I would have read more but for the past two weeks I've had a nasty cold and respiratory infection and I didn't read anything last week. I've finished one series this month and read books by three new to me authors. In the next two month eight books of series I follow are going to be released. Normally I would read them quickly after they are released, but I don't want to burn out on series again, so I'll have to see how I'll handle those now. It's too soon to tell if my |

January was an odd month for me. Only six books read! But that's because two of them were enormous - 849 pages and 1121 pages.
But with eight books bought and one new freebie in January, that means my TBR has grown by three. I hope to do a lot better in February, although I may well be reading another monster book. |

I did terrible in January since I've been reading The Institute for like 3 weeks. But I'm 85% done so hopefully in a couple days I'll be finished.

King has more bad books than good, IMO. You need to choose carefully. Someone so prolific can't stay as good.
