3.5/5 at The Storygraph for my July challenge prompt, Umberto Eco's "Mouse or Rat" - hopefully August's will be more enjoyable

I've read 8 of my 12 so far. This has been a really fun challenge and I intend to try it again next year.

Yes, I think it was a great idea, astrangerhere. I was running a bit late in June and finished my book, Lincoln in the Bardo on 1 July. Now I have to get myself sorted for the July book.

I'm way behind. I've just started my first of the three June books I picked. Then I have two for July and four(!) for August. But I am bound and determined to catch up by year's end. I like all the books I picked and intend to read them all.

I fell off-pace in June, so will be playing catchup in July.
I'm surprised I didn't drop one of my balls before this, frankly! Lincoln in the Bardo is stunning; one of the best novels I've read in years. |

My nephew introduced me to Saunders with Tenth of December and I've gobbled up Saunders ever since. I know shorts are his métier; still I think Bardo is his greatest work so far and I'd love to see another novel from him.

I thought it was extraordinary, and definitely one of my books of the year. I gave it five stars, which I do only every now and then. He's a writer I haven't come across before, so I shall be seeking out his other books.

As of today, I'm done with 4/12 books and about half way through book 5. So progress.

I am absolutely planning on running this again next year. I don't know if I will change the topics or not (really depends on my effort level in December), but it seems like enough folks have enjoyed it to make it worth the while!

Excellent news! It was fun finding a book to fit each category, and it is making me work through some of my heap.
Thanks, astrangerhere! |

It was very worthwhile. Even though I had to add a couple of books to fit categories, in the other cases, it got me thinking about how books I already had could fit. Also, I'm enjoying the exercise in self-control, making myself read each month's prompt in that month
