This is slightly out of date. With the K2 coming out soon, now is an excellent time to create a new one.

Can someone provide a link to a downloadable copy of MobiDesktop 6.0? I'm having hosting issues with the server I used to use.

= Mobipocket Desktop Reader
Do you have a Kindle? You only benefit from MobiDesktop if you have the original Kindle becuase v6.0 of MobiDesktop recognizes the original Kindle as a reading device. This made it easier to manage your ebooks. At this point, I'm recommending that you download calibre instead. It supports both Kindles. |

Thank you for such a complete guide. I'm the kind of person who wants to know how everything works right out of the box.

If you are running Vista, v6.0 doesn't recognize the Kindle1. |

And when the K2 came out I tried upgrading from v6.0 to v6.2. After the upgrade the original Kindle was no longer recognized as a reading device but as a USB drive. |

Yes, 6.0 gives a PID for the Kindle 2 and I can use "send to device" (or whatever the command is) correctly. I didn't try any material encoded for the K2 however, just non-DRM'd files.
