Blue Wrinkles
When I got mine, they didn't show up. After a few hours I started seeing some. As I stated before, I thought it was oil from the leather case, but after some of the information that has come, I have another opinion.
As Mr JSWolf said, the surface might not have been prepared correctly, and with the "rubberized" surface "wrinkling" instead of cracking, it looks like it might be stretching, as opposed shrinking. I wonder, ROBERT B YOU MIGHT ASK THIS QUESTION, whether a GENTLE heat might be applied, like a hair dryer on WARM. But, of course, heat might stretch it also. But it might soften it to press it down. I STRONGLY SUGGEST NO ONE TRY THIS UNTIL WE HAVE SOME EXPERT OPINIONS FAVORING IT. !!!!!!!!!! AJ BTW, regardless of the blue wrinkles, the reasons I purchased an ASTAK have not changed and I will NOT be returning it, barring the unit failure. |

If you intend to keep your PP, you should always disassemble the case and have it professionally painted.
Ask your local paint shop. It would looks much nicer. Even doing it yourselves, you would probably end up with something nicer. As for me, I'm out too. The large range of supported formats interested me, but I saw in several reviews that most formats are very badly supported. And now this, I don't want to take the risk to end up with a defective unit and to have to pay international shipping two times + the customs. |

As for me. This is only the skin of the unit. It's not truly what makes the PEZ what it is, and that is a multi-format reading monster in my pocket.
If mine reader begins to shed it's skin, I will help it along the way, then I will follow through with Faenad's idea and have my casing professionally painted by a friend who specializes in autobody painting. I'll give my reader the coat it truly deserves and it will definitely turn heads. |

I'm glad to see Astak is going to provide free shipping to return the units with the bad paint job.
So far, I'm only seeing people with the blue units reporting problems with the rubber coating. Does anyone with a different color have this issue? I'm wondering if whatever dye they used for the blue is reacting badly with the base for the rubberized coating. I've been using my white model extensively everyday since I've gotten it, and haven't had problems with the coating at all. |

I have 40 Slate Blue that are perfect!!
Quote:
We know that the paint coating was not fully dry when they were packed and rushed thru transit. We now have 40 Slate Blue Pocket PRO out of the boxes and lined up in rows of five. We monitor every day. The 40 we have are all just perfect. Now that they are fully set... we can eliviate the ones that do show any problem. Please... we appreciate your support and your love of the Pocket PRO... but it has to look good when you show it to others. Email Ruby if your finish is not error-free at: support@astak.com. We ARE taking care of our customers and we DO stand behind the product. There is an old saying that says: "Any company can smile and make nice when things go right. A proper company MAKES RIGHT when things go wrong." Judge not our Pocket PRO because we rushed to ship, like so many wanted... let us get you happy! |

I'm disappointed that it is indeed a paint coating when you told us it wasn't, but it's nice to see a quick response to folks problems.

I have a maroon/red one with coating issues on the back. The blue one I ordered for my sister-in-law has coating issues with the upper left corner on the front. I think it's really cool that Astak is letting us exchange the units for blemish-free ones with the shipping paid for. I'm taking advantage of the offer and exchanging both of our units. Also, support has been really responsive about letting us exchange our 256 MB SD cards with the Chinese eBooks for the 1 GB SD cards with the English eBooks.
Although there are issues with this initial launch of the product (which is not surprising given that we are purchasing the first release), I am still enthusiastic about the EZ Reader Pocket Pro, particularly because of the product features, great customer support and responsiveness to correct the issues. |

Does anyone have a problem with his black or white? It doesn't look like it.
