My kindle didn't arrive today either, so about a week late now (should have arrived on the 23rd)
Also the case that I ordered for the kindle 2 weeks after I ordered the kindle arrived 2 days ago. =\ |

I had an explosive amount of rage today.
DHL "Attempted to deliver" the package on Tuesday... "House is abandoned/empty" W.T.H.? Anyhow, it'll now probably won't get back here until Monday because their depot is 570km away. I really like how having two cars in the drive way, curtains open, bird on the porch, and lawns mowed comes across as "abandoned". I'll be fair, the place does need work, a lot of work - but it doesn't seem to throw off the dozens of couriers who deliver here each week for my other business (electronics manufacturing). Paul. |

MrPLD, I have found that some "couriers" don't courier very well. Nothing is more frustrating then seeing that little slip of paper and knowing that no one knocked on the door.
I would call the courier company and register a complaint that the driver did not attempt a delivery but has made a claim to have, and that you were home the entire time. |

Dwayne,
I could have accepted things more if there was a slip-of-paper (which has been done by others) but there was NOTHING... I'm just shocked and flabberghasted. DHL is so bad around here that I actually make my electronics suppliers alter their delivery contracts so as to explicitly NOT use DHL. It's a regional issue, not a company issue. The infrastructure they have setup means that there's always a 2-day delay as opposed to all the other courier agents. Paul. |

Ah I see. I would still call and register a complaint, especially since there wasn't a slip with the delivery time, or claim of attempted delivery. I feel your pain I was an impatient customer waiting for my Kindle here in the hinterlands of Canada (or as one site I read calls us, America's Hat!)
All I can say is that it is worth every second of waiting... but you know that already! |

Once I receive the unit I'll lodge the complaint. Doing so now will inevitably just mangle the delivery attempts even further, perhaps earn the box a few kicks :-O
It's actually a surprise gift for my wife - for her hard work on her books (as an author). Paul. |

I take it she is not a big forum fan then Once you get your hands on it, you'll wind up ordering one of your own.

You would be correct. She's asked about seeing what I'm doing here on the forums and possibly joining up but I've been spinning misdirection and excuses at her for the last two weeks to stop her digging in and finding out that she's got a K3 heading towards her.
Overall she's not a big forum-fan irrespective, I think she just likes to see what her husband is up to (since I'm basically her media/promotion/marketing front). Paul. |

Well, I think that your presence is a good thing. I am a fan of fantasy books and chances are pretty good that I will get around to reading your wife's work just because of your posts here. If the price is right, I'll try almost anything
That said, forums are a great way to stay in touch with the reading public and get a gage on what is going on. And the internet has allowed us the opportunity of finding authors that we never would have found out in our little slice of the world. |

Getting back to the topic of the thread - I'm strongly considering calling up DHL today at about 3pm and asking them where the package is to ensure that it's actually on its way back to me.
This afternoon I'll go outside and remove any dead plants or other things that might indicate that "this house is abandoned"... might even be able to start painting the exterior walls now that the rain has stopped. Paul. |

I'm so excited that I received my Kindle yesterday. And this morning the kindle leather cover arrived. Perfect !! It looks like a book now.
Gonna be busy reading those PDF and all other ebooks now. |

That sucks, big time! The kindle man has never knocked on my door, I usually 'find' the kindle when I go outside at some later time. Although one time he left it on my neighbours porch.....

Pushka,
I'm starting to wonder if they did in fact go to our neighbour's house which is indeed empty - but has the wrong street number on it. After I prep the dinner for tonight I'm going outside to push that mower around to make it look like a real person lives at this house ( my wife and I both work from home - we're a pair of hermits ) Paul. |

On a positive note I got mine yesterday
And man, My old EZReader looks positively dull in comparison I don't know why some ppl on here are complaining about the white not being white enough. It's wayyy whiter than my old screen and the text look faded\washed out on it too, Not like the lush deep blacks on my sexy looking K3 Custom screen save go go go |
