Entirely separate issue:
What is the highest version number of Kindle for PC that works reliably to import books for KFX conversion? Reason: I sometimes borrow library books, and don't want to keep multiple instances/versions of Kindle for PC installed. Since early last year, the Kindle-via-Overdrive interface at libraries has required Kindle for PC installations substantially greater than the canonical 1.17... but there have been lots of problems running KFX Input with the very-very-very-most-up-to-date version of Kindle for PC, so I've been very reluctant to update it. It's possible that some Kindle for PC versions in the 1.3x range might work with the library check-outs, too, so that I wouldn't have to keep multiple installations. (Preemptive note: "Suggesting" the purchase of more hardware, like an eInk reader, is a nonstarter. Just. Don't.) |

I can confirm that I can import KFX files form K4PC 2.3.0 downloaded last week from Amazon.

Seems to work on most kfx-books, but it got a hickup on one ebook today.
https://www.amazon.com/unfinished-bo...dp/B0CBT526HX/ Any ideas? Maybe the size (28 MB)? Code:
calibre, version 7.2.0 ERROR: KFX conversion failed: <p><b>Cannot convert the unfinished book: a journal for the end of the journey (and perhaps for those whose road still seems endless)</b><br><br>Exception('This book has a layout that is incompatible with calibre conversion. For best results use either the From KFX user interface plugin or the KFX Input plugin CLI for conversion.')</p> Last edited by patrik; 01-11-2024 at 05:35 AM. |

Use the "from KFX" menu option or CLI to extract PDF.

Thanks, that worked!
As this has worked fine every other time, is this due to it being a "wrapped PDF"? |

Opening and converting kfx-zip fails
Not sure, whether I've the same issue with a 'print replica' or not, but conversion from kfx-zip fails as well as opening in calibre viewer.
Since I'm totally new here and at eBooke, etc., I don't understand 'how to use either the From KFX user interface plugin...'. Is it another plugin or a special execution mode? Book is: https://www.amazon.de/Advanced-Anten...5071217&sr=8-1 DeDRM 10.0.9 KFX Input 2.7.0 Calibre 5.44 Messages, I'm getting: Trying to convert to .pdf: Quote:

You will need to update calibre in order to process that book if you cannot wait. "From KFX" is built into the KFX Input plugin. Instructions for adding it to the main calibre toolbar can be found in the first post of this thread. |

Addendum - "'NoneType' object has no attribute 'PdfReader'"
Just for information:
I tried the 'From KFX' option (EPUB is offered only) and it still causes the same error. No issue for me, I'll have the opportunity to switch to new notebook (Win 11 and thus most recent Calibre) soon... Quote:
