Called B&N support and was told that minor updates (X.X.0 --> X.X.1) do not update automatically. However, I tried to copy the 1.1.1 update file to the root of my nook and update manually, and found that it doesn't work either since my nook puts up a message about "Invalid update" each time I try to update manually (tried it twice). Have no idea what could be wrong.

Emailed to nook support and was told there is no way to even manually upgrade from 1.1.0 to 1.1.1. Seems wierd, but that is just how it is.

Doesn't that kind of defeat the purpose of having an update? Or an autoupdater?

Well, technically there's still a way to go to 1.1.1 from 1.1.0 but it involves some trickery and complete wipeout of your nook.
nookdevs used to have instructions for the manual 1.0.0 update download which would restore your nook to clean slate and from there you can go directly to 1.1.1. |
