I haven't been able to find a thriller I really want to read on my TBR so I will second The Rook and third Playing with Fire.

Since we only have 6 fully nominated books, let's give Rook the final nod and Stillhouse Lake the final two nods and then I think we can go to the vote.

At this point, it seems silly to me to give another book a recommendation. But, if you have any nods left, there's one book left that already has one nod.

I don't know what the book is like, but the blurb at Goodreads makes it sound as if the female protagonist is some kind of super hero who adopts a secret identity in order to fight crime. Is that close to the mark?

Besides, if I was trying to do the super heo thing, I could just as easily have nominated a Batman story. Stillhouse Lake does have an average of 4.15 stars on Goodreads. So if it was as bad your you've misread into the blurb, then it would have a much lower rating. Have you not read (or seen in the movies or on TV) of an ordinary person getting into a situation where said person does what's needed to be done to save the day without becoming a super hero? |

After reading this, I took a look at Goodreads and apparently the book "ends" in a colossal cliffhanger and you have to read the next book to find the resolution. Also, the word "gruesome" figures in a lot of reviews. Either of those is a total deal-breaker for me.
