One of today's Kindle Daily Deals is Lev Grossman's The Magician King, the second in his Magicians trilogy, for $2.99. The first book in the series isn't mentioned as part of the deal, but it's also $2.99. The just-released third in the trilogy is not on sale; its regular price is $11.99.
At the time of posting both books have been price-matched at Kobo, and The Magician King has been price-matched at B&N. Oh, and today's main Daily Deal is the first 22 of Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark-Hunter urban fantasies for $2.99 each. You can get to a full list from Amazon's Gold Box: http://www.amazon.com/gp/goldbox/. Death Warmed Over, which appears to be 1st in the Dan Shamble, Zombie P.I. series by science fiction author Kevin J. Anderson (whom you may remember from quite a few Star Wars tie-in novels as well as frequent features in various periodic sfnal bundle deals), is free courtesy of publisher Kensington, who've previously given us a freebie tie-in novella some years ago.
This is probably just until the end of Sunday, since Kensington usually doesn't extend their freebies past the weekend. Free @ Amazon (available to Canadians). Single Dead Detective Seeks Clue Ever since the Big Uneasy unleashed vampires, werewolves, and other undead denizens on the world, it's been hell being a detective--especially for zombie P.I. Dan Chambeaux. Taking on the creepiest of cases in the Unnatural Quarter with a human lawyer for a partner and a ghost for a girlfriend, Chambeaux redefines "dead on arrival." But just because he was murdered doesn't mean he'd leave his clients in the lurch. Besides, zombies are so good at lurching. Now he's back from the dead and back in business--with a caseload that's downright unnatural. A resurrected mummy is suing the museum that put him on display. Two witches, victims of a curse gone terribly wrong, seek restitution from a publisher for not using "spell check" on its magical tomes. And he's got to figure out a very personal question--Who killed him? For Dan Chambeaux, it's all in a day's work. (Still, does everybody have to call him "Shamble"?) Funny, fresh, and irresistible, this cadaverous caper puts the P.I. in R.I.P. . ..with a vengeance. |

I picked up a copy too. It had been on my wishlist and then I forgot about it because it got moved to a different list. I haven't tried it yet though. Might be my next book.

A Freebie (4 days) that I have read and recommend (series from a author I follow)
Comet Fall (Wine of the Gods Book 6) by Pam Uphoff Book Six in the Wine of the Gods Universe A thousand years ago the gods said a comet had fallen. Nearly everyone had died. Now a small one is going to hit in six months . . . and a planet killer in eight years. The young witches and wizards of Ash have a lot to learn, and a lot of growing up to do.Rustle Neverdaut is going to be a powerful witch, if she survives bullies, high society, rapists and her own greatgrandmother. http://www.amazon.com/Comet-Fall-Win...dp/B009RYGE1E/ http://www.amazon.ca/Comet-Fall-Wine...dp/B009RYGE1E/ http://www.amazon.co.uk/Comet-Fall-W...dp/B009RYGE1E/ The typos may put some off - the later books are much better because I and other readers have been proofreading and typospotting ! http://pamuphoff.livejournal.com/ |
