So an instruction for fastboot would probably be the easiest? |

I will upload a video with the partition images to tell you how to flash in the fastboot mode. I will upload all partitions to Mega Drive (because the space of my google drive is running low).

I'm usually working with Windows, but also have a laptop running Linux. Basic fastboot capabilities are present. I have been rooting and flashing Custom ROMS on several Android phones. But with Boox the partition structure seems slightly more complicated... |

windows is fine. I make everything in a bat file, the only thing you need to do is connect your device under fastboot mode, double click the bat file and follow the instructions in batch.

I got an error during the execution: Code:
Erasing 'userdata' OKAY [ 0.285s] CreateProcess failed: The system cannot find the file specified. (2) fastboot: error: Cannot generate image for userdata ******** Did you mean to fastboot format this ext4 partition? Erasing 'userdata' OKAY [ 0.285s] Code:
fastboot.exe -w fastboot.exe erase userdata Afterwards I tried switching active slots (B->A). Resulted in getting stuck in EDL mode. Switched back active slot to B. After reboot the device rebooted twice and then booted past the ONYX Logo and into the BOOX boot animation. However, the animation has now continued for more than 20 minutes and nothing is happening. I got as far as the animation twice before I started the thread. But the animation froze in both cases after the third dot got colored. So we are a bit further than before... Any ideas what else to try? |

Why are you erasing userdata?
That leaves it without an actual filesystem. |

Hmmmm, that's weird. I tested what I packed before I upload it. However, DO NOT TRY to change active slot manually, since this device uses VAB (ONLY ONE SLOT IN SUPER PARTITION HAS FULL OS), therefore, change active slot may cause some unexpected situations. Secondly, after you flash the things I provide, go to recovery and manually perform factory reset, see what happens then. Thirdly, if everything still not work, I will provide you more partitions to let you flash in and see how it goes.

because you never know whether something wrong in userdata or not

I tried flashing, rebooting to recovery, factory reset and rebooting. Result: three boot loops up to boot animation that freezes at the first dot, then reboot to fastboot. After rebooting a couple of times yesterday, I got the same error that initially started the whole problem (see attached image). |
