Is it just me?

Why am I so unimpressed?

Maybe it's because I don't consider the letters "ePub" to actually be a part of this logo at all... they seem to be an afterthought, just thrown in underneath.

When most people use a logo, they use... the logo. Not names and lettering over, under or beside it... if you use those, you don't need the logo, do you? And if that's what someone does, they're left with

...which, somehow, just doesn't say "ebooks" to me.

In fact... it makes me think of...

Dunno, I see swastikas every day at temples and some vegetarian restaurants, so I never think about them that much.

I do agree that it does evoke the Enron logo a bit, and that it's a rather thoughtless design. I'm not sure we could have expected any better from the IDPF. I didn't even participate, in part due to an irrational worry of being rejected by an organization that has little design sense.

I had a pathetic one sketched out -- a capital E, arms down, center depressed a bit (trying to look like a book), over "pub". I thought about it, and said no, there are pro designers entering this, and they'll come up with something professional; why embarrass myself?

It was better than this.
