I voted yes because I bought one as fast as I could (getting one with the merlot cover & no ads for an April 27 arrival).
The biggest reason, for me, are the physical page turn buttons. I currently have the Voyage, which I GOT for the page turn buttons. I have osteoarthritis in my thumbs and it's painful to hold a book or do swipes on a screen. And besides the fact that it hurts to stretch my thumb to swipe (especially the left cause I have to stretch further), the need to swipe across a page is distracting to my reading. I just want a quick press on a button. But - there are two reasons why the Voyage, for me is only "good enough" while I think (hope?) the Oasis will be better ... maybe even perfect for my needs. (1) The buttons are not perfectly accurate and are hard to use, even set at the most sensitive setting. I find myself having to press harder or more often, sometimes having to press page back because I pressed too hard or too many times to press forward. I'm getting better at it (having had the Voyage since its debut). But, still... (2) The worse is that there is no clear way, physically, to tell where the buttons are. Yes, there is a line, but you definitely can't see it at night; it can't just be found by feeling for it. Also, I find that, as I'm reading a book, my thumb moves away from the "sweet spot" of the page turn section. Therefore, I am taken out of the book to find the page turn buttons. So, a lot of times, it's not an automatic press to go to the next page; I have to consciously think of where the button is and press it. I know - 1st world problems, right? But, with the release of a lighter device with physical page turn buttons that I can rest my thumb on and press when needed, I anticipate (hope?) that the Kindle will indeed "disappear" and I can be reading without any distractions. So, that's why I'm willing to spend the big bucks to get the Oasis. I'm retired and I read a LOT each day. I hope the Oasis will be the best device to "get out of my way and disappear" so I can just read. Guess I'll see. Marilyn |

Here is my frustration....it seems most of the people here that said yes, said so because of the ergonomics and reduced weight over the Voyage. I want that too.
However, the included cover will undo the ergonomics and weight and center of gravity in your palm.....why force me to buy the cover I won't use for an inflated price?! The cover has a battery in it...great...make that a selling point of the cover, not the Kindle. If they ever sell the Oasis, without cover, for $200 or so I will buy it. |

I don't think that amazon would sell the oasis without a cover, the device has a tiny battery inside. I think it's 250mah and 1290mah inside the cover.

I voted "No, nada, never," although "probably not" would be more accurate. I'd love to have an Oasis, but the price is much too high for my e-reader budget.
It looks like it'd be very comfortable to hold, which my old hands would really appreciate. I don't mind the asymmetrical design; function is more important than form to me. If the extra lights do result in more even screen illumination as touted, that's definitely a plus. I have no use for the battery cover. I'd consider buying the device sans cover for $150 or so, but that's not going to happen. So, for the foreseeable future, I'll continue to enjoy my Paperwhite 3. |

Maybe the poll should say - how far along the change curve are you when it comes to the Oasis? Joking of course... but I remember similar outrage when the Voyage came out, but now everyone seems to love it. It'll be interesting to fast forward to 6-12 months from now to see how many people have changed their tune. |

I wish I could afford the oasis, it's not on sale here yet so at least I don't have the temptation. :P
I was thinking that my official paperwhite case alone weighs more than the oasis. |

I voted no.*
The non-symetric thing just doesn't work for me. I usually read with the reader in a stand. I don't need the reader to be wider. I think haptic buttons would work better for me. I've switched to swiping (which I dislike) on my Kobo because tapping for page turning has become unreliable, so I think sensitive haptic buttons would work nicely. If I had to pick between the Voyage and the Oasis, I'd pick the Voyage. I don't want the cover. * I reserve the right to change my mind. |

I think of the cover as more of a dock. Watching this review (in Portugese, so all I can do is watch, and ignore the audio) the Oasis connects quite easily to the cover. So I figure I will read a naked Oasis for the ergonomics and light weight, and attach it to the cover every night to allow it to recharge.
I have arthritis issues too, so I think the Oasis will help; both its weight and its real buttons. But I'm not a "buy the first day" person, so I'll try to wait a month to order. If I can resist! PS I already have a Voyage. |

Voted no friggin way! They made no improvements to the actual eInk screen, the most important aspect of an ereader--same 300ppi screen as my Voyage. They added a few more LEDs, but I'm not too sure why as my Voyage is already way to bright at the highest setting, so it isn't like the screens were too dark. The body design is nothing I would ever care for. It is much to thin (even the thickest part) to comfortably hold in one arthritic hand. Even with a cover on it I'm thinking it won't be thick enough. My Voyage is thicker, and even with the cover on my Voyage it is barely thick enough to hold in one arthritic hand. And what is up with that BS cover?!? I mean, whoopity doo dah they made a super thin, super lightweight ereader. But to do so they had to decrease the battery charge. So to attempt to cover that up (pun intended) they include a costly cover/battery pack. WTF Amazon. How stupid do they think we are. I can only imagine that it will be a long time before decent third-party covers are available due to the battery pack. And to top it off they want $290 USD! If they want my business as far as any new ereaders, then they need to improve the screen and get rid of that crappy light system that degrades the text, and put decent fonts on the effing thing for a change. Until then I'll read on my iPad and iPhone while my Voyage mostly collects dust.

I was so put off by the terribly non-ergonomic design that I hadn't even thought about that. Yes, the Oasis will not be very good to hold in landscape mode, especially with one hand, and it will be difficult to work those buttons in landscape. I still believe Amazon is using product designers who never read on an ereader, otherwise they could surely see how stupid their designs are.
