There were a few books that none of the main codes worked on for me, but one of the ones that someone posted here from the contest worked.

Here in New Zealand we have gone back to the old site, and I have just been able to use the 80% code on a book that was just released today...So I got a $12.39 book for a paltry $2.48 WHOOP WHOOP!!!
Huge thanks to Odo for sharing the code |

HHmmm... I've just bought one of those impossible to download books.
I bought it on my daughters account so I could use the 80% off coupon. The purchase went through fine but there is no way to download the book. I can see the book under I'm Reading and Purchased but there is no link to download it. I have signed into her desktop app and synced numerous times but the book never appears. How is this not fraud?? |

I think that because if you sync, it should go to your device. It's just that you can't necessarily read it on a non-Kobo device.

When it happened to me the customer service agent I dealt with(via chat) was quick to give me the credit but I made a point of asking them to pass on to the Web Dev team my displeasure at having to go through the process which wouldn't have been necessary if they'd just state the format on the purchasing page. |

I find the following quote from their own website quite funny, considering this keeps happening:
Inspired by a "Read Freely" philosophy and a passion for innovation, Kobo is one of the world's fastest-growing eReading services. Read Freely stems from Kobo's belief that consumers should have the freedom to read any book, anytime, anyplace – and on any device. |

I used it on Sense of Wonder, a massive (almost TWO MILLION words) science fiction anthology edited by Leigh Ronald Grossman that I was able to get for less than 5€ (the tag price was over 22€). I love these codes |

And what if you dont have a device, as many dont? I went back through my browser history and on the confirmation of payment page, the one you get after you buy a book, it clearly says to download the Kobo app, either for a mobile device or desktop. So I downloaded the app to my daughters laptop, registered it with the exact same details as her online account and synced it. Still no book. So, no way to download it and it doesnt show up on either her Kobo or in the app. I have emailed them. Its not the dollar amount that bothers me, its the out-right fraud of taking my money and providing no way to get what I purchased. Kobo really do seem to bend over backwards to provide the worst possible service in every way. The one and only thing I can think of to praise them for is the coupon codes but even thats becoming a joke with it being so difficult to apply them so often. |

Thank you everyone participating here - I got a couple of books from Kobo thanks to the various codes. All books are the second or third in a series I loved but held off buying because they were too pricey - but with the codes the price was great! Now I got them all and can happily continue reading!
Btw, as long as Kobo does not change the way they show the available format, I always save a preview in the library before buying. The library will then show which format the book is actually in. Really bothersome though - here is hoping that they will change that soon ... |

I always save the high value discount codes for the most expensive books I want, usually non-fiction books that are used as textbooks but also collections of fiction ebooks. I would never buy those books at full price but at 80, 75, or 65% off they are much more attractive.

Does anyone know where the Kobo app stores the ebook files on Android please?
