It is working for me.

Dialup. 5min/mb for downloads. Including loading flash, only that's sometimes slower 'cos apparently it often runs through weird filtering software on one end or the other.

128kb tiny flash movie? 30+ seconds of load time. Lots of little flash buttons? Would freeze entirely, except I browse with Firefox using Flashblock; I get little circles-with-arrows instead of flash content until I click on each one to let it start loading.

Site with a cluster of little button-windows? I have to be convinced it's worth my time to click on them. If those little windows aren't hiding pics of Captain Jack Sparrow in bed with someone interesting, they're probably not worth my time.

Doesn't load; is there a typo somewhere? (It's possible that somehow the site is blocked at work, but I don't think so.) AH! it's at http://www.theezreader.com/html/

Hrrm. Let your site design/marketing people know it'd probably be a good idea to choose a sample text that's not riddled with hard returns; when every other line is short, it looks weird, and most viewers won't realize that's a problem with the (presumably Gutenberg) source file, not the device.
Dear Elfwreck:

No problem with www.theEZreader.com/html That is getting me there. Sorry.

Pictures of Captain Jack Sparrow with a donkey are readily available online!!

Will pass on all your suggestions!! Thank you!!

No spare battery on www.astak.com

All seriousness I understand the suggested workarounds, but they are only for flash issues. For me the big problem is for International buyers. By clicking the International Orders page in FF I only see 6 Pocket Pros and 1 6" EZReader to select, I don't see the option to buy batteries. If I load IE I get all the readers and the batteries.

Now looking at the page source I can see the code for the batteries (as well as for the ability to enter a coupon code), though those lines are ignored and are wrapped in the following line of code;

<!------------------->

at ether end of the block of relevant code. Now this page is just .asp, no flash at all. I am not a .asp code monkey so unfortunately I can't narrow down the problem much further with the code. This is only one page, and with the entire astak website written in .asp I am sure there'd be more information not displayed to FF users.

Robert, something else you can pass on to the web site guru is;

This problem I have been experiencing seems to be associated (with my few tests) with web browsers using the Gecko engine (Firefox, Netscape). Webkit-based browsers (such as Midori - Safari on the Mac *may* be the same) doesn't appear to have this problem.
Dear Solicitous:

Due to an explosion of a battery that Sony shipped, it is VERY hard to ship batteries internationally now. That incident, and the terorist threat, are making it hard.

Email to Elliott at: support@astak.com and he can get one out to you.

I am very sorry for the hassle; but anything with a battery now draws a strong third look.

Robert, I actually wasn't after buying a new battery, I was pointing out a specific problem I have noticed with FF and astak.com website. If I ever need one, I have found a local Aus place that stock them. Sorry for the confusion.

Robert, I think it's great you are looking into these concerns regarding the website.

Hopefully everything will be fixed and fully functional at the website for FF users. No dodgy work-arounds and adjustments to FF should be necessary to fully access the site (many non-forum members and future buyers would not put up with fiddling around to jump over these virtual hurdles; and wouldn't know something is missing from the site, that we here know should be visible there).

Thanks for your ongoing support!

Dear Javed:

Thank YOU.

Yes, I think it is time to lose the flash and just get down to more info.

Recently we started the free Mighty Bright Lite offer and I asked my people to put it on the website. I was told that "there is no room to add it".

Now, I am Old School and I admit it. That works for me. So, I do not accept statements like "no room to add it". People (purchasers) have a right to know when a special is on. Otherwise they are confused and we miss business.

So, I am praying for a "soon" start to a new web design that will not have dumb problems like this.

So, I am definitely supportive!

Robertb and Javed, thank you both! I'm really excited! I didn't realize how many ebooks I've been accumulating until I looked at my library in calibre, and I was surprised to see I've already got 191 books ready to load! I can't wait to start reading!

Another reason the flash has to go that I haven't read yet: On more than one occasion, while going to www.theezreader.com, after clicking on the f/arrow (I use Flashblock for Firefox), while the page is loading it goes into a sort of random, shaking or vibrating mode (the website, not the whole monitor). The only way out is to X out (File->Quit doesn't work). This also means I've lost any and all cookies I've accumulated this session (I have Firefox delete all cookies after closing).

If it makes any difference, this is under Firefox for Linux.

It's bouncing up and down because it is so mad at having to do flash only.

(seen it do that trick, also Ubuntu Linux with a flash blocker)

Dear Davimee:

You already have a lot of friends here! It is wonderful to be buying a new eBook Reader as it opens up a whole new world of fun and happiness.

I love reading as it takes my mind away on a whole new journey!

Soon... very, very soon... there will be a new and exciting bit of news by Astak on here. We have been trying for weeks to get final approval and it appears we are almost ready to release the news. Just keep an eye open for a nice announcement!

We homeschool our girls, so our shelves are already overflowing with books! It is wonderful having a library the kids can go to at any time, but now Mommy will have her own library that's just hers!
