Prime (US) price increase. Ouch! - Page 3

And for us, I consider Prime membership half price for me, because I share it with my husband. He orders enough computer parts, household parts, and other items that it more than saves on shipping through the year. And with more people hired to deliver through the pandemic, we actually get deliveries faster than we did a couple of years ago.

There's been more than a couple of times that we've both been sick, (not covid, knock on wood) that having over the counter medicines, hot packs, tissues, chicken soup and fluffy blankets delivered to our sick door the same day saved us a lot of grief and having our kids drive up and shop for us. And we could need that service again, at any time.

So, for us, the rise in price for our household isn't that concerning. We're planning on dropping Disney+, and we're talking about whether we watch Netflix enough to keep it. So, we're lucky we can balance it out if we need to.

No fun when things go up, but I'd rather their employees got paid a decent wage. Then, whenever we're not at least breaking even, we'll quit. We're just not at that point yet.

I find value in the prime video, of all the stuff they offer that’s what I use the most. So if I value that at $7-8 of the cost it’s less the netflix and Hulu which my wife likes. The free shipping is easily covers the remaining $8 by the stuff we order and don’t have to go get.

While no one likes an increase the extra $1.70 a month is easily offset.

Everyone is just going up. I got a message my Netflix increased to 20 bucks a month for the 4K plan. My wife and I are debating on whether or not its worth it anymore. Since most content providers have their own streaming services the vast array of available movies Netflix used to have is gone. Mostly their own content with some extra TV and movies thrown in.

For me Prime is a money saver. I do buy quite a lot of items from Amazon. The main reason, most of the stores in my area do not carry the items I want to purchase. I live in a small town and the selections the stores carry are not what I want. And even the department stores look more like discount stores than anything else. They looked like this long before covid. Wal Mart is the busiest store around here and they tend to carry lower quality items.
Throw in Prime Streaming Movies, TV Shows and Music and Prime is a good deal.

Be glad you are not in the jewelry business. Prices change every time the price of gold changes. Right now, it is mostly changing in an upward direction. It closed yesterday at $1860.00 a Troy Ounce. I can quote a price and 15 minutes later it can change. The price I am charged is the price at the time the invoice is created, not when I actually buy.

I have a friend that has heavily partaken the Crypto Kool-aid. I worry about the wisdom of his decision, watching crypto prices fall.

If they’re actually claiming the minimum wage hikes are behind the price increase I do hope their upper managements salaries have increased in line with the minimum wage from point of hire to new now. Though I can virtually guarantee they have far outstripped the increase in minimum wage even when comparing it in percentage increased. And if we learned anything from the last two years it’s that upper management is far less essential than the people on the ditches.

That said I did gift myself a year from the pre price hike.
