4G LTE
For those interested in getting the WiFi + 4G LTE model, it looks like it's only available in the 32GB Graphite configuration.

Did the previous new Oasis not have this feature? That seems unbelievable to me. I thought all the new ereaders have had the warm screens for at least a year if not two. I don't recall the previous Oasis getting dinged for that on reviews.

I wonder when these devices will start being released with USB C rather than Micro USB? We're basically at a point now when even the cheap smartphones are USB C rather than Micro. It's a little lame that it's still USB Micro. Well, hopefully next year!

The previous new Oasis was released in 2017, so over a year ago. Its lighting color temperature is not adjustable, but it did have less blue in it, for which some heavily critisized it.

I'm guessing the 25 LEDs are a combination of colors to achieve the desired degree of warmth?
I'm still pretty happy with my Voyage. |

I still wish they'd release a new Voyage, or a Voyage/Oasis hybrid.

I wonder how the color lights will affect the battery. I know other devices have them but I have Kindles. The new Oasis has a slightly larger battery I think on par with the Voyage. So that will help, but 25 LED's is a lot. I saw on Amazon it has 2 light scales one for the normal reading light and another for the color temp which is also adjustable. So I'm thinking if the color lights are not used than the battery would last longer perhaps ? I'll have to wait for reviews to see what folks say about that. I'm in no hurry and also wish they made a new Voyage again. Although it looks like the Oasis is what they have decided on. I don't mind the shape with a cover. I was waiting to see if they would increase the battery and they have. Although how it's used will make a difference. This time they also bumped it up to light level 13 instead of their previous 10 for weeks of reading at 1\2 per day.

I wonder if Amazon will create a smaller, cheaper reader with warm light? Like making it an option on the next PW model.

Quite possibly, waterproofing first came to the Oasis2, then it migrated down to the Paperwhite 4.

The warm light feature is something I've been yearning for a while now on Kindle. I was even debating whether or not to trade in my Oasis for the new Nook Glowlight Plus but changed my mind when I read about the technical glitches and how super orange the lighting is. Now Amazon has my attention again with this new Oasis.
Even though its not much of an upgrade overall, I feel strangely compelled to get it because with this feature, my Kindle will be good to go for the next 3 years at least. Going to put up my Oasis up for sale soon. I bought it refurb for $180 last year and might be able to sell it for close to that price. I figure I can use my Kobo Mini for another month until the new one ships. |
