The price and the weight make it sound quite appealing. I was somewhat tempted to get a Voyage after feeling how light it was, but the weight on this one is even lighter.

I do like the page turn sensors on the Voyage, so I guess I'll keep them both. |

My friend, who just happens to be a princess, complains incessantly about not being able to sleep, regardless of how many mattresses she uses...

Of course you need them both, you just have to sit down with your current Glo and explain very calmly (it might get upset) that it needs to retire and a younger model will soon take its place.

Yes, of course you are right. I do need them both. And the Glo will be the backup. I do have one of my two Glo's listed in the Trading forum, with no interest. So I'll probably keep them both. After dropping and breaking a Kobo Aura, it makes having backups on hand more justifiable!

The Voyage has the Amazon bookstore. The Kobo only has the far more expensive and less navigable Kobo bookstore.
The Voyage has the X-Ray feature. The Voyage has Amazon's superb customer service. When I needed customer service for my Kobo I spent three weeks trying to get through to them. Once I did they were very good. But they sure do know how to avoid customers. My best Kobo to date is the Kobo Aura. If I had nothing else to compare it to, I'd love it. It's a first rate device to read on. But I also have a Paperwhite and a Voyage. While it's true that I can do far more fine tuning on my Aura, nothing I do with it ever makes it look as good as the Paperwhite. By the way, I've turned off the new features on my Voyage and that makes it have only one advantage over the Paperwhite: the way it feels resting in my hand while I'm reading. Other than that they're pretty much identical so I don't think it really matters whether they're comparing the Kobo Glo HD to the Paperwhite or the Voyage. For reading purposes there's not a lot of difference. I'm thinking I might want to get the Glo HD. I'll know more when I read more user reviews. I use the Aura for short stories since I have it. The problem is the screen isn't nearly as good as either of my Kindles and maybe the Glo HD will make a good replacement for it. However, I live in the USA and it might be difficult to find one. Here's a video comparison of the Voyage and the Glo HD. I suggest not taking these guys too seriously because they have a way of not quite knowing what they're talking about at times, but they do their best and I suspect they mean well.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BTz3apOFyro As I watched it I had a good chuckle at they way they try so hard not to show their biases. The biases still come through just fine anyway. They really do try hard to be fair and they fail miserably and it's kind of cute. I always enjoy watching these guys although I'm not completely convinced they're real people. Still, they're easily the most entertaining cartoons on the internet. Barry |

Does the Glo HD use the same screen as the Voyage? Is it a capacitive touchscreen, or an IR screen like the H2O has?

I believe Shari is right--the Glo HD does have the IR touchscreen. Personally, for me in every day use I don't notice much difference between IR and capacitive touch. I use both an Aura HD (with IR) and a PW2 (with capacitive) regularly. Don't notice a lot of difference between the way the two react. But, I don't do a lot of highlighting passages--where I might notice the difference more readily. I do a lot of page turning (naturally) moving through menus and looking up words in the dictionary.
