Ok. Seems to be that my problem was related to the proxy I used. Used a different system and it downloaded without any problems.

Exactly what happened to me. Couldn't download epub (which is what I bought) for a long time. Emailed customer service and they immediately switched it to ereader (pdb), which I absolutely HATE . No replies to emails about the format, so I'm resigned to it at this point (luckily pdb works on the nook and it did download fine).

Just sucks because its metadata is unfixable without drm-stripping and there's nothing out there that strips pdb drm without decompiling the damn thing. Oh well... .

Aside from this, it's still a great deal.

Yeah, I've learned to try all other fixes before contacting on a book that's gone ereader only. On the other hand, after decompiling, it's easy to fix a number of problems that many of the books seem to have...

No, I cannot. If I try to get a new .acsm, then ADE won't even attempt to download the file. If I use the old .acsm file, it does download, but when it tries to open it, I get an even longer error message.

I've discovered that if an eBook is georestricted (to Europe), sometimes in the "Formats" box underneath the price description, there are several Kindle publishings. So, check if it still says available for Kindle and in case, click it. The price will (for the most part) rise a couple of $ but still, it might be available.

Unlike all other ebook formats, B&N's pdb format actually changes the order in which things are stored between the encrypted and unencrypted versions. To convert from encrypted to unencrypted requires decompiling and compiling again. Since there's already a perfectly good compiler out there (DropBook), just decompile, tweak (if you want) and drop on DropBook.
