Alexander! You mean every hour of every day isn't dedicated to making us happy?!?!?!? ;-)
You've been incredibly generous with your time and this site so please don't stress over it I have a question, tho. In previous emails, people have asked why some comics don't appear ("This image is currently unavailable..."). What seems strange, if it were a bandwidth problem, is why I'm able to consistently get the comic on my browser but moments later when I try to download it with isilox, I get the "image unavailable" message. I was even able to save the url to my computer (Save as) and all the images downloaded. Is it possible that there could be other reasons for this problem? I noticed that Baby Blues is almost always unavailable to isilox but not to my browser. Is there a retry setting in isilox if it needs more time to get the image? And lastly, how did you create a web page that grabs a single comic from multiple sites producing the web page found at turcic.com/avanto/comics.shtml? Again, thank you for all of your help and please don't ever feel you need to offer us reasons for delays, ok? Take care! Val |

It seems the united comics get a little finicky if you haven't refreshed your cookies by visiting the website. I find that the sitescooper program gets around this and downloads the images with no problem. The problem is that if Alexander uses this solution, his system will become the actual server for the comics (ouch). I already have a homebuilt comics page that is auto-generated by sitescooper with a comic on each page (so I can tweak the image settings for each image), but I fear if I were to hand that out, my poor little iMac will feel too much pain to be able to serve the comics page to me!
Anyhow, I don't know of an easy way to solve the cookies glitch without having Alexander download and serve the comics from his own system. |

Unfortunately, there is also a legal aspect... things are not as pretty as soon as you locally store the image files on your harddrive.

Just wanted to convey my thanks for this "special comic page." Equally enjoyable, would be the political cartoons, those that you find in Time, Newsweek, IHT, etc. One that I can remember is Lurie's World (shows my age !!). Don't know whether it's still being published by Time. I guess it would be in their weekly (print) magazine, not online .

drc54,
I looked for Lurie's, but couldn't find it among the list of online comics. Maybe there is the one or other political comic among the list that I could add for you. Alex |

Alex,
Take a look at Pat Oliphant's work, syndicated in most of the US dailies such as the Washington Post. I don't think it's on your list. Perhaps a different title, but that's the type of cartoon I was suggesting to include. http://www.uclick.com/client/wpc/po/ Thanks. |

Also, I removed the SFGate comics Baby Blues, Beetle Bailey, Zits and Sherman's Lagoon since they won't work unless I change something about how the comics are downloaded (and for several reasons I don't want to do that).
So its space for some new comics. Tell me what you want |

You really should make this 1-link deep and make it a comic per page (I know, you arlready got this request). Scrolling is painfully slow when all the comics are loaded onto one page, and it prevents us from being able to pick and choose our comics.
When will you release the source? |

I'm back to playing with the comic page for iSilo...REALLY cool...
For my Clie SJ30 320x320 screen, I find setting the image scaling to max width=480 and max height=480 works pretty well. Can still read text clearly, and by using a region for dragging, can drag the right side of a strip into view without losing room to move the stylus. |

What about putting the comics list into an isilo ixl format like the WCC collection so we can pick and choose? (if not, can you share the url to get sexylosers.com to work?) thanks

nXt this has been in discussion for a while. Unfortunately, it is not that easy to implement - and there are other issues we must consider first before doing further customization of the comic scripts.

Heart of the City + Userfriendly added (Tumbleweeds didn't work).
Still have to find a solution for the increasingly growing comic page.... |
