Post My Reading goal for 2023

Hi everyone,

My name is Shalini and like many of you, I love reading books.

This year I am aiming to read one book each week. I have also started my own blog where I will share a brief summary as well as my personal take and opinion on each book I have read. If you are interested feel free to check it out: Book Reviews by Shalini

So far I have read in 2023:

1 Haruki Murakami - Norwegian Wood
2 Paulo Coelho - The Alchemist

Reading right now:
3 Haruki Murakami - Blind Willow, Sleeping Woman

As it has been for the past few years, my goal is to read at least 52 books. I have been able to manage this so far. I tend to fall behind near the end of the year but manage to pull ahead before the year ends. I normally keep track of my reading with LibraryThing. Here are My Read Books for 2023. As I post this, I have completed three books this year, which is on target.

Goal: Read 50 books and keep reducing TBR pile

Goals
  • as always: have fun reading
  • read at least 50 books (managed 47 last year, so I want to challenge myself a little)
January already looks great but I know, once the gardening season has started, there will not be that much time for reading...
  • reduce TBR pile (starting the year with 670 books on the list)

I will not define any other specific goals, but I will keep using last year's tags:
  • current (from the last 10 years, if that seems relevant to me)
  • female author (in fiction and in non-fiction, if I consider the female perspective might be relevant to the content)
  • "non-western" author
  • classics (what I personally consider to be a "classic")
  • non-fiction

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Currently reading
  • Jane Austen: Persuasion (1817)
  • Sarah Waters: The Night Watch (2006)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

January (11)
Spoiler:
  • Saša Stanišić: Herkunft (2019)
    current
  • Oscar Wilde: The Canterville Ghost (1887)
    classics
  • Florence Given: Frauen schulden dir gar nichts (2022) (Audio)
Original title: Women don't owe you pretty
    current, female, non-fiction
  • Sophie Passmann: Alte weiße Männer : ein Schlichtungsversuch (2019) (Audio)
    current, female, non-fiction
  • James Clear: Die 1%-Methode : minimale Veränderung, maximale Wirkung (2018)
    Original title: Atomic habits
    non-fiction
  • Patric Modiano: Ein Stammbaum (2005)
    Original title: Un pedigree
  • Marcus Stobbe: Lösungsorientiert denken und handeln (2019) (Audio)
    non-fiction

    Original title: Žert

    non-fiction
  • Charlotte Perkins Gilman: The Yellow Wallpaper (1892)
    female, classics
  • Georges Simenon: Maigret - 05 - Maigret kämpft um den Kopf eines Mannes (1931)
Original title: La tête d'un homme
