Don't have the "fever" but an definitely interested in it. I'm not much of a sports fan in any case, but it should be very interesting.

Hey, it is about time to start talking about some serious stuff again. Yep. Football. The World Cup is here!
Tell us your team/country you are following or rooting for (or against ehehe) or any other team you would like to see. Any predictions? Don't be shy! |

Nice to see my four year old thread resurrected! Thanks Salgueiros.
So. I'll give you my predictions in the same handy format that HIMS used; Stage Play A - Brazil and Mexico B - Spain and Netherlands C - Colombia and Ivory Coast D - Italy and England E - France and Ecuador F - Argentina and Nigeria G - Germany and Portugal H - Belgium and Russia Round of 16 Brazil over the Netherlands Colombia over Italy Nigeria over France Germany over Russia Spain over Mexico England over Ivory Coast Argentina over Ecuador Belgium over Portugal Quarterfinals Brazil over Colombia Germany over Nigeria Spain over England Argentina over Belgium Semifinals Germany over Brazil Argentina over Spain Final Argentina over Germany Oh, and the top scorer will be Romelu Lukaku of Belgium (33-1 at the bookies if you're quick). I predict that Canada will not win.
I'm looking forward to it though. The flags are on the car windows already. |

^We could have a pool as to when Canada's mens team scores a goal in the World Cup. Of course we all might be dead by the time that happens.

But honestly, i would be delighted if we make out of the group, and maybe the quarter finals. There are too many good teams out there. |

So Bilbo, you are English, right?
From my experience english fans are the most fascinating fans i talk to. They can go from blind faith to pure defeatism in the same phrase. It is always a lot of fun talking to them. Where on earth could you find a TV channel where they spend an hour with a program selecting the worst England team of all time? And joking about it the whole time. I like the sportsmanship . |

^I think Canada could do that, but there was only ever one appearance and they never scored. Everyone on that roster was a shoo-in for worst team ever.
Let's recap how Canada fell from World Cup Qualifications: *cough* 8-1 loss to Honduras in an if you tie you advance to the final round of qualifications. I joked with some forumers on another forumer that perhaps Canada should learn to play football before we attempt to bid on the World Cup in 2026. |
