It's a shame JSWolf is suspended. He'd have loved the Lolita option...

The only reason I'm not as keen for The Spy Who Came in from the Cold to win is that I want to read Call for the Dead and A Murder of Quality before I read it. I'm going to read it...at some point.
Then again, as the discussion threads don't go up until the 20th (why is that?) it would give me plenty of time to read all three. However, despite how political it seemed to become in Dec I actually want to read Lolita, so I'm rooting for that. ETA that TSWCiftC is available from the UK kindle store. It can be found for the same price at Smiths and Waterstones too. Last edited by narflet; 12-21-2011 at 11:46 AM. |

Most public libraries are willing to borrow through Inter-Library Loan, especially for a widely available title.

Thankfully my little Swedish town has one of those. And they have a copy of "The spy...". Unfortunately the library is temporarily closed for a move to a new location. Opens again Jan 16th. That would give me 4 days until the discussion starts, should I go for a paper book option, should that book win. If I start reading it and like it it may be enough. (If I don't like it I won't finish it anyway. Too many things I want to read!)

I am well aware of how a library works, I volunteer in one everyday. I also know the town in which I live. |

^My province has gone to a provincial network for lending. I can get any book in any of the libraries across the province. I could grab The Spy... from such thriving metropolises as Vonda, SK population 332 or Semans, SK population 267.
I love my library system here. It's unbelievably great. |

JSWolf suspended. I was wondering why he had said nothing about any of this recently. But why was he suspended? He could be annoying, and persistently on some issues, but nothing that would have seemed worthy of censorship.

People read at different speeds, and then there are just times in people's lives when they don't have the time to read as frequently as the want. For those reasons, it was felt best early on to give everyone ample time to read the book selection before the discussion begins. Some of our faster readers find that it works best for them if they wait until a few days before the 20th to begin reading so the material will be fresh in their minds for the discussion.

I wasn't going to get involved with the book clubs until after the first of the coming year. My TBR list is horrifying and this time of year is murder on my reading time, but...
This poll is just too full of books I really want to read (some I already have as ebooks or paper) and so here I am. Voting for the one I really want to read (for Jon's benefit .. Even with an open poll). |
