Edit a quick search for ".kobo/Kobo/Kobo ereader.conf" site:mobileread.com on Google hit this thread from 2012: Kobo Reader Settings Tweaks so back to 2012 as a minimum.

Have you been able to see what's the difference? For instance, different provider, bigger or smaller? I was long VERY glad I had saved the 3.15 version of dictionaries, since Kobo impoverished steadily their dictionaries until the VERY welcome recent outstanding improvement.
I am a frequent user of en-fr and it-en, occasional of fr-en.

I am a frequent user of en-fr and it-en, occasional of fr-en.

I haven't looked in any great detail because it would take too long. From the few bits I did look at the French dictionaries seemed to be mainly cosmetic style corrections and the Italian dictionaries had added more linebreaks to make longer definitions slightly easier to read.

I can also confirm that the Portuguese dictionary has improved significantly. Very happy with this, although I've been using the absolute fantastic pt dictionaries provided by Owl.

I discovered another improvement in My Words: I can add a word even when I've changed the dictionary, which wasn't the case before (it remains impossible after expanding from the pop-up).

Finally charged my H2O enough to install the 4.25.15875, the patches, and NickelMenu 4.0.1. I should be good to go until the next update.

I finally updated my Libra to 4.25.15875 (just couldn't find the time earlier) and re-applied the patches. Immediately I encountered a glaring issue with epubs: widows and orphans in the css (set to 1) are not honored and instead default to 2. I don't know what to do. They are set to 1 in the css, as I said, and the patch for this recommends using the css. Should I apply the patch nonetheless? I'm very unhappy with those large bottom gaps in my epubs now.

This is definitely not the case here. I Make sure that the widows and orphans are 1 is something in my standard CSS and that I always do.

How are you setting this? Editing the book, using the KoboTouch driver to add extra CSS or using the hidden options?

Did you apply any patches that have anything to do with widows and orphans?

Using the Modify Epub plugin to add extra css. I tried several books and all of them had this issue. They were books already on my Kobo and half read, so they definitely didn't have the gaps before. I also opened one of them in the Calibre editor to check and yep, widows/orphans were set to 1 in the css.

Frankly I'm baffled. I guess I can try to load some new books and check those, but if they behave this way too, I'll have no idea what to do. I could use kepub, but that would mean reloading my whole Kobo library, which is entirely epub at the moment.
