I disagree. It makes a very noticeable difference. Also, if you do use a large enough font, you can adjust the patch to make the spacing even smaller.

It makes a noticeable difference because you use a small font size. I also use a smallish size and find the patch useful, but I agree it's probably not so useful with large font sizes.
