Sabriel by Garth Nix (Old Kingdom Book 1) is currently $1.99 in the US and is also discounted in some other countries.
https://store.kobobooks.com/en-us/ebook/sabriel-1 https://www.amazon.com/Sabriel-Old-K.../dp/B000FC13MM Since childhood, Sabriel has lived outside the walls of the Old Kingdom, away from the power of Free Magic, and away from the Dead who refuse to stay dead. But now her father, the Abhorson, is missing, and Sabriel must cross into that world to find him. With Mogget, whose feline form hides a powerful, perhaps malevolent spirit, and Touchstone, a young Charter Mage, Sabriel travels deep into the Old Kingdom. There she confronts an evil that threatens much more than her life and comes face-to-face with her own hidden destiny. . . . |

Some discounted Houghton Mifflin Harcourt (couponable at Kobo CA, but apparently not the US; prices should be matched at other North American retailers) titles at around $2.99 CAD, which you may or may not want to consider while Kobo is still having the extra bonus points promo:
A Wizard of Earthsea by Ursula K. Le Guin, 1st in the classic original trilogy set in one of her most popular fantasy universes. Dealing with Dragons by Patricia C. Wrede, 1st in her highly enjoyable Enchanted Forest Chronicles quartet. NB: There's a 4-book omnibus edition which may work out cheaper than buying the individuals, if you do a price-match against Amazon CA, which is listing it at $20.99, or have a really good We Missed You coupon to splurge with. Grayling's Song by Newbery Medal finalist Karen Cushman (of Catherine, Called Birdy fame), a standalone fantasy novel for younger readers. And if you happen to have fond memories of Antoine de Saint-Exupéry's The Little Prince, HMH also have his adult-level short novel (very short, just 98 pages according to Amazon) Night Flight, which is based on his true-life aviation adventures which partially-inspired TLP. It's another one you'll have to request a price-match on, since Amazon CA is listing it at $1.99 instead of Kobo's $2.99. |

Lock & Mori, by Heather W. Petty--FREE from Riveted.com!
A website called Riveted ("YA Fiction is Our Addiction") has started (apparently today) an offer of free ebooks for 12 days. I am going to commit myself to posting each one of them. The exception would be if a book does not meet my posting standards (high ratings, etc., etc.).
Today's freebie is Lock & Mori, by Heather W. Petty. It is rated 4.1 stars, from 53 reviews at Amazon. The Kindle mobi price is $8.99. Here's the book description, courtesy of Amazon: In modern-day London, two brilliant high school students meet. A murder will bring them together. The truth very well might drive them apart. You know their names. Now discover their beginnings. Someone has been murdered in London’s Regent’s Park, and sixteen-year-old Lock has challenged his classmate Mori to solve the crime before he does. His only rule: they must share every clue with each other. Mori reluctantly agrees, but what begins as fun and games quickly becomes sinister. As she gets closer to solving the case—and more and more drawn to Lock—she discovers that the murder is connected to her own past. Now she’s keeping secrets from Lock, her family, and her best friend, secrets with dire consequences. To save herself and loved ones, Mori is prepared to take matters into her own hands. Will Lock be standing by her side when it’s all over? That’s one mystery Mori cannot solve. Unfortunately, I do not know what format(s) that this freebie comes in. Downloading it requires setting up an account, which I didn't want to do in view of the fact that I do not read this genre/subgenre, and rarely post any on MobileRead. If you download this book, would you please make a post to let everyone else know what format(s) are available? Here's the webpage to go to in order to download the free book. The relevant link is in a blue-green box near the upper lefthand corner. I know that I'm late in the day making this post, but not to worry. The book is available free until December 26! GtrsRGr8 does not stop investigating after he has made a post. No sireeee.
I located four more free ebooks from Riveted. These may have been posted as deals of the day in the "12 days" promotion, and I just missed them until now. Anyway, here they are. Each one is available free until December 31: The True Meaning of Cleavage [this is considered a YA book????]. By Mariah Fredericks. Elixir. By Hilary Duff. Beautiful. By Amy Reed. Thirst No. 1. By Christopher Pike. And just as I was about to finish this post, I noticed that there are several more free books at this Riveted webpage. I'll leave that one with you for you to explore on your own. |

There are around a dozen more free books from Riveted, found on this webpage. I'm not going to list them, since there are so many.
The freebies are near the top of the page. The books in the "Riveted Library" just below those are, assuredly, not free. For what it's worth, the markdowns on these are scheduled to end on Dec. 31, also, instead of Dec. 26, as the first book that I mentioned is. Last edited by GtrsRGr8; 12-18-2016 at 08:19 PM. |

I know; free and all that, but free strikes me as too expensive for something as wrong as that. |

Get 25 YA books, for only 99 cents each, from P.D. Workman. She is also offering at least one YA book for free.
Workman appears to be both an author and an indie publisher. She's written several of these books; the rest of them have been written by other authors and appear to have been published by her. It looks like most of the 99 cent books, at least, are only available as Kindle mobis. One of them appears to be available, well, practically everywhere it looks like. Find all of the 99 cent books on this webpage. At the very top of the webpage there is a link that says "free ebook." Clicking on that link will take you to another webpage where you can request the download. You will have to provide an email address, and you will be advised that "you will be subscribed to my email list." The free ebook is called Diversion, Book #2 of the Breaking the Pattern series. You can download the book in either the Kindle or ePub format. For your convenience, here is the Amazon webpage for the book. There is only one rating at Amazon for the book (but it's good); there are many more at GoodReads and the ratings on the book are very high there. P.D. Workman's homepage is a "busy one." I may have easily missed some more cheap or free ebooks that she's offering. If you're so inclined, I suggest that you rummage around on that webpage and see what other goodies that she might have there. |
