Free Today on Amazon UK -The Secret Generations by John Gardner
'May, 1910 The world is on the eve of a war set to ruin the lives of a whole generation. The Railton family are intimately involved in the world of espionage, which will become so crucial to the conflict’s outcome. With the death of General Sir William Railton, the family patriarch and hero of Balaclava, the family is thrown into a world of violence and intrigue. Manipulated by the new head of the family, the ruthless arch-intriguer Giles Railton, each member of the dynasty comes to play their part in the ‘Great Game’ of Intelligence. Through the story of one family, whose lives become caught up in some of the greatest struggles of the twentieth century, John Gardner traces the birth, the successes and the failures of the organizations now known as MI5, MI6 and GCHQ. From the battlefields of the Western Front to Russia on the eve of revolution, this epic work of fiction tells the story of the dramatic history of Britain’s intelligence and security services.' Free Today on Amazon UK -Body Politic by J M Gregson
When the ambitious MP Raymond Keane is found dead in a frozen lake, Superintendent Lambert and Sergeant Hook soon discover that the politician was adept at making enemies. Plenty of people wanted him dead. There is his former lover, Moira Yates, whose life he has ruined; his business partner Chris Sampson; Joe Walsh, a disgruntled constituent; and his supposed fiancée, Zoe Renwick, who had been on the point of breaking off their engagement. Moira Yates seems to have the perfect alibi. Since her break-up with Keane, she has been afflicted with agoraphobia, and is unable to set foot outside her house. In fact, all the suspects have alibis, but, one by one, they are challenged by the dogged police work of the two detectives. And when Lambert finds an object by the lake he is sure he has his murderer in his grasp... But the 'Body Politic' has surprises in store he could not have imagined. Free Today on Amazon UK -Gone Feral by Gwen Moffat
'Sophie Daynes cherishes The Boathouse, inherited from her family and situated in remote, beautiful Cumbria. But her boorish, layabout husband, in his forties and obsessed with his young mistress, is only interested in its cash value – and how best to get his hands on it. With both temperatures and passions rising in the height of a searing hot summer, greed, gossip, and mystery combine to make this a volatile visit they won’t forget. Is the suspicious man living in the woods nearby really a villain on the run? And who are the shadowy figures ‘stalking’ Sophie from the lake edge? When the pleasure steamer churns up more than mud, and a grisly package is discovered washed up on the shore, the lives of all connected with the Boathouse are changed dramatically and irrevocably…' UK http://www.amazon.co.uk/Gone-Feral-G...ndeavour+press US http://www.amazon.com/Gone-Feral-Gwe...ndeavour+press Au http://www.amazon.com.au/Gone-Feral-...ndeavour+press Can http://www.amazon.ca/Gone-Feral-Gwen...ndeavour+press |

Free Today on Amazon UK -The Fire Ship by Peter Tonkin
'Richard Mariner and his wife, Robin, are in the Indian Ocean on the trial voyage of a high-tech sailing boat designed, built, and owned by two Vietnam veterans, ‘Doc’ Weary and Sam Hood, when they encounter a burning freighter. She has been strafed by gunfire, the crew has abandoned her—and her cargo had been armaments. In the Persian Gulf, Prometheus II, the giant flagship of the Heritage Mariner tanker fleet, and its crew, are seized by terrorists. But the holders of the hostages make no demands. Sir William Heritage, Robin's father, and Richard's friend and partner, cannot contact his daughter and son-in-law, and is unable to obtain any information about who has hijacked his ship, or why. He flies to Bahrain to investigate—and is immediately kidnapped himself. The three incidents are linked to one mysterious terrorist group - a group controlled by a madman. A bunch of George Harmon Coxe titles published by Open Road are 2.99 rupees (about 5 cents US) and a bunch more are 142 rupees (about US$ 2.40, but couponable) in the Kobo India store.
Detail are in this post from the Kobo code thread, and apologies if the cross-posting is a problem - I just really think both threads might be interested... |
