That's just how I plan to do it. There are way to many to read all in a row. I have read a couple of complete series but they were only 3 books.

Well, we do have Jeffrey Deaver who is an American and he wrote the next James Bond book which I think will be the next movie. The Flemming estate I think contracted him to do this.

And yes, Lee Child does a very good job with the Jack Reacher books.

And when Brits (technically Scots) write Bond we sometimes end up with Stross' "The Jennifer Morgue," lol. Imagine 1967's Casino Royale movie colliding with Call of Cthulhu.

Wait, is there a lot of romance in this series? I get annoyed easily by that xp
Lots of romance in the Reacher books? That's like asking are there lots of bombs and shooting in Dr. Seuss.

Agreed. Not lots of romance. An occasional requisite bedding, but not much romance! That said, I love them too. I'd love to have Reacher in my back pocket whenever I needed something tough done. And I'd enjoy just looking at him in between times!

JerseyBiker, now that you've gotten some answers, would you be upset if I hijacked the thread just a wee bit?

Since all the responders seem to have the same reading interests, would you list your favorite 'series' for this same sort of reading? (Series, not singles.) So far we've noted;
Sandford's "Prey" series, "Kidd" series, and "Virgil Flowers" series
Jack DuBrul
Barry Eisler's books
Jeffery Deaver
Robert Parker's "Spenser" series and "Jesse Stone" series
The "Harry Bosch" series
Ian Rankin's "Rebus" series

Please add your favorites...

Methinks you may have assumed too much.

Jack Reacher is pretty much my one-stop shop when it comes to kicking ass and taking names.

Sorry if I've offended you. It wasn't my intention. I was looking for people who had more to offer.

Oh no, not offended at all.
I was just trying to be funny (though the Reacher books really are the only books in this particular vein that I tend to read). I hope you get the responses you are looking for.

Charlie Huston often scratches a similar @ss-kicking itch, with sweet noir overtones. The Joe Pitt series gets extra weird and Joe takes more beatings than he dishes out, yet remains a very tough hombre.

Robert Crais has his Elvis Cole PI series. Elvis is a great character and he has a sidekick named Joe Pike who is very much like Reacher. In recent years he's done a few that feature Joe Pike in the lead role. Very good writer.

Andrew Vachss has a series where street smart ex-con Burke goes after child molesters in NYC. Some unusual sidekicks there. A little goes a long way.

I'm not sure if this qualifies as "same sort of reading" but, in his own calm quiet way, Israeli intelligence operative Gabriel Allon is about the last person a terrorist wants on his trail. Very well written by Daniel Silva.
