Again looking into which NAS I want to get for my Plex server. In a couple of weeks my desk will be delivered and put together, so I can finally get my office/craft space sorted out and one of the things I really want is to have a dedicated NAS server. I now run it off my laptop, which has goes to sleep after a while, so I need to keep it awake. Which is a small annoyance when the laptop is on the same floor but if I have to go up two stairs regularly if we have movie night it's annoying (in Windows setting I turned off sleep, but it still goes into sleep mode, which is most likely a graphics card setting, but I can't find where to change it).
I've now asked my computer store for help, hopefully they can narrow down which NAS will be best for me. |

There have been serveral “ jiggle the cursor” apps, so a machine looks busy. They might serve to keep it awake, too.

One friend of mine just watched 3 of their co-workers being fired for using that type of app while working from home on work supplied devices. He warned them that IT could monitor the use of apps on their work computers since the two of us had dug into the install on his computer to look at the AktivTrak monitoring software. Admittedly, taking the SSD out and mounting it as an external drive on a second computer is not something that most people would do but it did let us get a good look at what was there.

A dedicated server will solve this problem. I've got an email back with advice which set up will work best for me. So now it's time to read up/watch YouTube how to set up a Plex server on that brand of NAS. Today's quest is looking at TVs. I need a new one for my bedroom and I want to get a good one. So I'm off to the store later this morning. |

Working on a editing project. The author is great at what they do but when it comes to writing a manual, totally hopeless.

Getting ready to go out and run some errands this morning. When I get back I'll do the usual Friday chores. After that I'm free to do whatever I like. It's currently a toss up between cross stitching and starting on my haunted house Lego set.

Finished the re-write on the manual and sent it in. I also included a suggestion that they look for a professional manual writer so the next manual they create does not remind me of a university professor I had. The guy would write 2 or 3 sentences and then 'it is therefore obvious' and the conclusion leaving out all the intermediate steps.

Enjoying a thunderstorm. The sound of the rain on the roof and my roof window is just so soothing to me.
I'm debating whether to go to bed now or wait until it stops raining so I can open the window to cool my bedroom (currently a very humid 26℃). The currently prediction is that it'll rain for at least another hour, maybe a lot longer and it's 11pm now. |

After yesterday's trip to my favourite theme park I'm going to take it easy today. Do laundry, finish my milky way Lego project and tonight I'm going to see the new The Crow movie.
Tomorrow, Saturday and Monday will be cleaning days. Get the house ready for my sister's return and for the furniture people to install my bookcase and desk. |
