How to make Sigil live (in calibre)

After manual deleting some image files (not referred) the editor quits without any error message. I can reproduce it with my file.

On some books the preview pane and the code pane keep in synch with no problem, however in at least one book the two seem to lose synch at some point and clicking on say the last word of a (long) paragraph in the preview pane will highlight the last line of the previous paragraph in the code pane.

Conversely clicking on a word in the code pane moves the preview pane so that its top is at the beginning of the next paragraph (and so the word clicked is invisible in the preview pane).

Is this a known problem ?

I found an other small error with importing pictures.

If I add a picture to an ebook (epub), it will be stored in the root instead of ../images

With regard to this, I would very much like an option to see full pathnames all the time, as the view is not displaying folders as Sigil does. Now it's possible to have several files listed under one heading, but they are not all in the same folder. This got me confused in the beginning, and noticed it when I hit F2 to rename some files.

@Divingduck: If you want the image to be stored in images/ specify the image name to be images/whatever.jpg when you are importing it.

@BobC: Position syncing only works at the tag and line number level. Therefore, if you click at the bottom of a long paragraph, the cursor will be positioned at the start of the line containing the opening tag of that paragraph, not at the line containing the end of the paragraph.

This is what I just wanted to ask too. It is maybe a good idea to have path information in addition when I point to a file with the mouse (or with right click). Then I have the information I needed without having static information displayed all the time.

an additional point to the picture viewer, it will be nice to have some kind of sorting. Due to the search of my imported picture, I was not able to find it, because it was not where I thought it is (in the end I was able to find it at the end of the list).

A third point with handling pictures. I thought (not sure, if you had done it already), you put something with drag & drop in the editor for importing or edit a picture with an external program

As always, only some thoghts about this...

Good point. It is sometimes so easy to do it in an other way, I will change my mind

Maybe, if possible, it would be best to just display the folder structure under the heading:

IMAGES
-------
/images
  x1.jpg
  x2.jpg
  x3.jpg
/illustrations
  a1.jpg
  a2.jpg
  a3.jpg

And the same with the other headings; some books have their files in /Text, others don't, and it's not immediately apparent. (Sigil seems to completely load a book into memory and reformat the directory structure. I image that this is the reason why it's so much slower to open a big book compared to Edit Book.)

When you move your mouse over an item in the file list the full path is displayed in the status bar at the bottom.

The image browser has a filter field at the bottom. Simply type a part of the file name of the image you are looking for.

There's no drag and drop onto the image editor, use copy and paste instead.

Unbelievable, it was all the time there and I didn't recognize it. I will go now in the corner...

Edit: I found my problem with copy and paste (wasn't working for me in PS). I do normaly not think about it (because of drag & drop). After I open a new empty file with background only in PSy, copy and paste is working.

This might be an exceedingly stupid question, but what do the new docking options do?

I've been fiddling with them, but I don't seem to be able to do anything that I couldn't do before. Changing the options doesn't seem to make any difference in the layouts I can make. What am I missing here?

There's a typo in that preferences panel that prevents those settings from being applied, will be fixed in the next release.

Believe it or not, but this post made me laugh. I find it to be very hilarious; a typo that prevents the entire panel from working. If you had been writing in C++, the program wouldn't even compile, or if it did, probably crash the moment you clicked on OK

Actually, since the typo is in a string, the effects would have been identical in C++. Static typing is highly overrated.
