I'm not a fast reader but I've read 35% so far. I don't think I'll have any trouble finishing by the 20th.

I will. I'm starting today and it shouldn't take that long.

If you've read 50 books already this year, give me some of that funk!

53 I have not updated it in awhile, if it takes me more then two days to finish a book I consider that a "funk" I have been working on a Nicholas Sparks book for three days and I am only at 18%

It's not that I am not enjoying the story, I have anxiety issues and it can be hard to sit still sometimes...

I haven't started, but I don't anticipate a problem. I admit I was relieved when a recent elibrary book (why do ALL the books on my hold list show up within days of each other?) proved to be unreadable. One more to get through, and then I can move on to Anna.

I'm at 18% and I think I'll barely make it until the 20th. So far, the book is much more enjoyable than I expected. While the story reminds me of a soap opera, the characters are much more defined and believable, which makes it a fun read.

Daytime soap operas are extremely unbelievable and in some cases very silly.

I'm finding the descriptive language in AK gives the story more color and depth for me.

That must be why they lasted so long. "Guiding Light" - 72 years, on radio (1937) then TV (1952). "One Life to Live" (1968) & "All My Children" (1970).

Blame that on too many bored housewives with nothing better to do. I am waiting for ABC to cancel their last two remaining soaps.

While housewives may be bored, I assure you they have plenty to do.

All of the women I know who watch soap operas are gainfully employed. None of the stay at home moms that I know, myself included, watch soap operas. And, as AnemicOak pointed out, there are plenty of men (my dad being one of them) who do watch soap operas. Although, to be fair, my step-mom didn't give him much of choice when they were first retired, and now he is hooked.

One of the best places to meet guys (including those on the football & baseball teams) was the lounge at university where they all gathered to watch "All My Children" every day.

Off to work now with AK all loaded up to listen to for the commute.
