Not really, The Sony also was out of stock once or twice. The problem is that the iInk screens are not always available.

Even in the current economic situation not everything is available. I wanted to buy a new car. That was no problem but the delivery time is 4 months. It was simply out of stock. And the car is nothing special.

Sorry, but there are sooooo much possibilities that could have led to this:
- not enough displays available (eInk has been sold, many new devices appearing etc.)
- not enough boards available (lots of new Netronix-based devices)
- Weltbild or some big reseller ordering way over quota
- someone at Bookeen forgetting to order (because of too much workload)
- or...

BTW: Bookeens starting page has a new design - don't think they'd done this if they're going OOB.

It's my opinion that Bookeen doesn't have that much of a cash flow available to order a large stock one at a time. They order as much as they can realistically sell over a certain period of time.

That's indeed their weakness.

But if they do sell enough to be out of stock, that's certainly a strength.

I just hope they sell enough devices to continue their business and hire some additional staff to satisfy the needs of both current and future customers.

I think it's a good sign. It means people are interested in cybook and buy more than bookeen can provide.

Exactly. Sony or Amazon might run out of device because the factory cannot make them but I think Bookeens cause for running out is as you say.

No, currently they can't work on the firmware because everyone is so worried about them running out of stock that they can't concentrate...
Once they are selling again they'll continue work on the firmware (except if they have other, more important stuff to do. In that case they'll let it rest until they run out of stock again or it's the second Monday of next week again)
