But I would happily go with off-white or a very light grey. But I could never really get into the K3 (compared with an iPad or Galaxy Tab), just because of the strong lamp I need to shine on it to read it easily. Could be my eyes are less sensitive, I dunno, stands to reason it's individual. But it always, for me personally, was the one flaw of the Kindle I had trouble with. |

The non-touch K4 is just going to be a pain to use as using the keyboard is not going to be nice. Get over it. Get the touch if you want a new Kindle.

But given that so many other devices such as tablets & cell phones have virtual keyboards and touch screens and I don't see complaints about them being touch, why the complaints about IR touch? Especially since IR touch with Pearl shows fingerprints less then most phones/tablets.

![]() Personally, I use an ancient flip-open nokia with full qwerty, since I need to use it for terminal access, ssh and such - at least the family doesn't mind free smartphones when upgrade time arrives ![]() But then again, I also own a few mechanical keyboards, because I find membrane/scissor switches to be worse. |

![]() The one doesn't have touch so that everyone can afford it. $79 is the cheapest eReader ever. This is why it's basic. Even kids can have one now. This is what they are going for. It's Christmas time and Amazon really hit it with this one. |

I'm considering getting one of the new kindle 4's (Non-Touchscreen) since the price is low enough that it would be good to have as one I would not be as concerned about if something happened to it. (One I could leave in my car, or at work etc). |

The reason for that is that without physical keyboard, a virtual one via touchscreen becomes a must. Unless the user does not type a lot or barely used the physical keyboard before, it will be a bit annoying. That's my opinion of course. I do that with my Roku or PS3 and drives me crazy! Now, someone correct me if I'm wrong, but Sony readers have virtual keyboards so typing without a physical one it's not as bad. Last edited by jocampo; 09-30-2011 at 10:24 PM. |
