Last time I checked it was arbitrarily close to zero, I suspect it approaches zero from the left, actually.
There are apparently some other libraries around (in smaller towns, > 50 km away) which lend ebook readers, but I couldn't find any info on the ebooks themselves. |

If any of our UK libraries contain anything other than on paper it'll be in PDF or micro-fiche !!!! (Certainly nothing available in our local ones)

Since there are no ebooks published in my native language - zero.
But we also have a very interesting copy right law exception, so there are few websites offering books for download. The most popular has 16647 books as txt/fb2/epub/html. P.S.: Stop. Lie. There are published ebooks. Stop. New lie. There is a published ebook. One book. Unfortunately this is not a joke. Last edited by LCF; 07-14-2010 at 10:14 AM. |

Mine has 1329 ebook titles, this includes PDF, EPub, and MobiPocket. But they have LOTS of audiobooks: 3,244 WMA titles, and 674 MP3 titles. It amazes me that so many people are interested in Audiobooks.

Not a whole lot currently in the Timberland Regional Library, a five-county system here, but more titles are being added. Downloadable audio was first and e-books have only just started. I think the last I checked there were around 700, epub and pdf formats.

Fiction 772
Non-fiction 158 I have a great local library system, so I expect those numbers to increase pretty quickly. |

ACT (Canberra) Libraries, Australia
1669 PDF 507 Mobi 235 mp3 1385 wma 0 epub From browsing, I've noticed that ebooks available in mobi are also available in pdf. I haven't seen any that are only in mobi. According to the catalogue, the pdfs are 1054 fiction and 612 nonfiction. Don't ask me what category the other 3 books are. The largest single fiction category is romance, but there is a reasonable selection of SF/F and other genres. Many books are categorised in multiple genres. You need to be a resident of ACT or be able to say that you go there often in order to get membership. You can borrow up to 10 ebooks at a time, and choose lending periods of 7, 14 or 21 days. |

Big. Fat. Zero.
Has anyone ever made a business case to your local library as to why they should offer ebooks? I'm thinking of campaigning for this, but its likely going to need to be on the basis of cost savings as our city is having budget issues. Looking at someone else's business case would be helpful as a starting point. |
