After closely following this thread and gauging the responses, I wanted to take advantage of my son's PSP charger which he no longer used. When I plugged into my convenient power strip, I noticed that the charge light on my reader was not on. I found an available wall outlet and tried it there with success. Perhaps this might help someone else.

I purchased this same charger and have yet to use it. Did you ever try yours and, if you did, any luck with it?
Thanks!

I got it because it was the cheapest they had, and it was a bit of a bonus that it has a cigarette lighter adapter in case of road trips.

Thanks in advance!

Haven't yet. I haven't run down the very first charge I put on the thing last week . I'll probably need to charge it in the next couple of days, though. Unfortunately, I'm traveleing, so just brought my USB cord so I could load books as well as charge.

I purchased the same Energizer charger made for PSP and DS ; when I saw it was 12v, I decided to use the USB plug with my iPod charger which supplies 5v. It works fine... I'm pretty sure the 12v would work fine too, but by using the Apple charger I have one less thing to bring with me when I travel. So basically I paid 20$ for the USB charging cable with 3 different end plugs heh

Well, I tried it out

I finally ran my charge all the way down. To the point where it was completely frozen. Tried plugging the Energizer thing into it, no response. Can't recall if the charging light came on, but nothing came up on the screen. Plugged it into the usual USB cable and it revived. Once it wasn't completely frozen, I unplugged it and plugged it back into the Energizer. Seemed to work fine, the light came on, there was a little lightening bolt next to the battery icon, and when I unplugged it a couple hours later the battery meter said it was full. We'll see how well this charge holds.

I just picked up a PSP charger from the local GameSpot store. They have store-branded charger for $14.95. It's simply a cable with a USB plug on one end, and the "coaxial barrel" connector on the other, and an AC power brick with the mating USB connector. What's nice about the AC power brick is it's compact size and that the AC plug folds out of the way so you're not poking other stuff when it's tossed into a bag.

Once the charge has gone completely all the way down to the point that it freezes, the only way to get a charge going is the usb or an official sony wall charger (in the wall, not a power strip).

Sony PRS600 Reader - AC Charger

Can you please tell me the model # for the official Sony Charger that you got for your PRS600. The ones they sell in the store now, are not compatable. I need the 5.2V and plugs into the USB port ( I think).

I don't know about the 600, but the 500 and 505 both shipped with Sony AC-S5220E power adapters. It's the round, yellow, plug that the Sony PSP uses.
